The Role • Operate specialized heavy equipment (hostlers, cranes, top loaders, side loaders) to load and unload shipping containers from railcars and trucks. • Safely maneuver and position containers and chassis within the intermodal yard. • Perform pre- and post-operation inspections of equipment to ensure safety and functionality. • Collaborate with yard personnel and supervisors to coordinate container movements. • Maintain a safe work environment by adhering to established safety protocols and procedures. • Stack, move, and organize containers to optimize yard space and facilitate operations. What You'll Need • A valid driver's license is mandatory. • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting up to 50lbs. • Willingness to work flexible schedules, including potential night shifts (2nd or 3rd shift) and weekends, with scheduling determined by union seniority. • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to safety protocols. • Basic communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team. • Ability to climb ladders and stairs on railcars.
