Job Description
A leading middle-market private credit manager based in New York City is seeking an experienced Vice President to join its growing platform. The firm focuses on providing bespoke financing solutions to middle-market companies through non-sponsored, special situations, and opportunistic credit investments.
This individual will play a critical role in driving new investment opportunities, developing strategic relationships across the market, and originating proprietary deal flow. The ideal candidate will possess a strong network of intermediaries, advisors, lenders, private equity firms, and company executives, along with the credit acumen necessary to evaluate and advance transactions through execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Source, originate, and cultivate new investment opportunities across the middle-market landscape
- Develop and manage relationships with investment banks, boutique advisory firms, accounting firms, consultants, lenders, restructuring advisors, and corporate executives
- Generate proprietary and limited-process deal flow aligned with the firm's investment strategy
- Evaluate prospective opportunities and lead preliminary underwriting efforts in partnership with the investment team
- Present new opportunities to senior leadership and investment committee members
- Drive transaction execution alongside underwriting and portfolio management teams
- Represent the firm at conferences, industry events, and networking functions to expand market presence and sourcing channels
- Maintain an active pipeline of actionable opportunities and provide regular reporting on origination activity
- Serve as a trusted partner to borrowers, advisors, and other market participants throughout the deal lifecycle
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree with a strong academic record
- 7+ years of relevant experience in private credit, direct lending, leveraged finance, specialty finance, business development, capital solutions, or investment banking
- Demonstrated track record of sourcing and originating middle-market lending opportunities
- Established network of investment bankers, financial sponsors, restructuring professionals, and corporate executives
- Strong understanding of credit underwriting, transaction structuring, and risk assessment
- Ability to identify, evaluate, and advance opportunities from origination through closing
- Exceptional relationship management, communication, and business development skills
- Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to operate independently while collaborating closely with investment professionals
