Job Description

Senior Engineer – Electrical Engineering (Control & Instrumentation) | Kirkby-in-Furness, United Kingdom | Hybrid | £42,215+ We are hiring on behalf of a globally recognized leader in advanced technology solutions for defence, aerospace, and security. The Role • Develop functional designs for Control and Instrumentation (C&I) solutions for electrical systems. • Produce Bills of Materials for C&I equipment and specify appropriate instrumentation. • Create C&I designs that satisfy a wide range of requirements including functional, safety, and various industry standards (e.g., British, naval, nuclear). • Judge and measure compliance against non-functional stakeholder requirements such as EMC and shock resistance. • Produce technical documentation including I/O schedules, instrument schedules, cable schedules, and functional design specifications. • Lead and undertake technical design reviews and peer reviews for C&I systems. What You'll Need • BEng (Hons) / MEng or equivalent degree. • Working towards professional registration. • Demonstrable experience in the engineering lifecycle, including system calculations, modelling, and analysis. • Experience in at least one of the following: high/medium/low voltage systems, control system architecture and communication protocols (e.g., RS-485, PROFIBUS), or functional safety (IEC 61508). • Understanding of equipment specification for Hazardous Areas and production of supporting evidence. • Technical report writing skills and multi-disciplinary engineering understanding.
