Job Description

Systems Engineer - IMA

Location: Remote

Rate: up to £80 ph Umbrella

Duration: 6 months

Role duties:

  • Define and maintain the Integrated Modular Avionics (IMA) system architecture, ensuring alignment with aircraft-level requirements, modularity principles, and partitioning concepts (e.g., ARINC 653).
  • Lead integration of applications onto the IMA platform, ensuring proper resource allocation (CPU, memory, I/O), configuration of partitions, and compliance with platform constraints.
  • Support and contribute to certification processes (e.g., DO-178C, DO-297, DO-254 as applicable), including preparation of certification artifacts, involvement in audits, and ensuring traceability and verification compliance.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant avionics standards and manage system interfaces (e.g., AFDX/ARINC 664, ARINC 653 services), including coordination with stakeholders across disciplines.
  • Act as a technical focal point for IMA-related topics, supporting design reviews, resolving integration issues, and guiding teams on best practices for IMA system architecture and platform integration.

Candidate profile

  • Ideally who have done this work before with another OEM. For the certification activity,
  • Support from someone who has certified an Open IMA platform with one of the major certification authorities (FAA, EASA).

Location: Remote
