Job Description
Electronic Engineer - Production & Manufacturing Support
Location: Harrogate
Salary: Up to £55,000 DOE
The Opportunity
Are you an engineer with an electronics background who thrives on the production floor, working hands-on to get products from prototype into reliable, high-volume manufacture?
Our client is a market-leading IoT technology company developing innovative electronic products for global markets. They're looking for a hands-on engineer to lead product introduction into manufacturing, drive continuous improvement on the production line, and act as the technical bridge between design, manufacturing, and suppliers.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead New Product Introduction (NPI) and production ramp-up activities, working closely with manufacturing teams to bring products from prototype to volume build.
- Partner day-to-day with production operators, line leaders, and manufacturing engineers to resolve build issues and keep output flowing.
- Work with external suppliers and contract manufacturers to ensure products are optimised for volume manufacture.
- Drive Design for Manufacture (DFM) and Design for Test (DFT) improvements, feeding practical, production-floor insight back into product design.
- Develop and maintain test equipment, fixtures, and verification procedures used in production.
- Carry out fault finding and root cause analysis on production issues, and implement corrective actions.
- Support quality, reliability, and cost-reduction initiatives across the manufacturing process.
- Provide light-touch electronics support (analogue/digital circuits, PCB-level troubleshooting) as needed to resolve production issues.
About You
- Degree qualified in Electronics Engineering or a related discipline.
- Proven experience supporting products through medium or high-volume manufacturing environments.
- Comfortable working closely with production teams, suppliers, and contract manufacturers on a daily basis.
- Strong hands-on fault-finding and problem-solving skills in a manufacturing setting.
- Working knowledge of PCB assembly, SMT processes, EMC considerations, and manufacturing test methods.
- Some background in analogue/digital electronics design is useful but not the main focus of this role.
Experience with NPI, IoT devices, embedded electronics, or leading production-floor technical teams would be advantageous.
What's on Offer?
- A central role in taking products from design into successful, reliable volume production.
- Close, ongoing collaboration with manufacturing, suppliers, and cross-functional teams.
- Opportunities for technical growth and progression within a production-focused engineering environment.
If you're a hands-on engineer who enjoys being close to the production line and solving real manufacturing challenges, we'd love to hear from you.
