Coal Quality Tester

About the Position

We are looking for an experienced Coal Tester who can work a minimum of 15 hours per week, with the flexibility to take on additional hours as needed. You must also be willing to travel to support teams at Boggabri and Maules Creek Coal.

Responsibilities

• Conduct routine coal sampling and testing.
• Assist with sample preparation and analysis.
• Maintain equipment and adhere to safety protocols.
• Collaborate with team members across different sites as required.
• Collect a range of production and train samples.
• Perform a range of preparation and analytical tests including Ash, Moisture and Total Sulphur.
• Ensure that all work is carried out in a safe and efficient manner and in accordance with agreed standard operating instructions.
• Check and validate all results to ensure that they are within repeatability tolerances.
• Maintain laboratory equipment: ovens/furnaces, Leco/Sulfur.
• Optimize turnaround time for samples while ensuring the highest quality of results is achieved and maintained.
• Follow quality work instructions and standard operating procedures.
• Maintain a high standard of housekeeping and presentation of all equipment and work areas.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a laboratory or mine setting is advantageous.
• Can do attitude.
• Flexible and adaptable to work extra shifts.
• Strong focus on safety and quality.
• Ability to work alone and unsupervised at times.
• Driver's license.
• Good organization and communication skills.
