. • Minimum of 8 years of hands-on experience developing and reviewing complex PL/pgSQL functions, procedures, and other database objects.

• Proficiency in SQL and PL/pgSQL programming.

• Experience with backup and recovery strategies.

• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

• Flexibility in working hours to support global teams and critical database operations.

• Experience in designing database schemas, access patterns, and locking strategies.

• Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools (e.g., Bitbucket, Bamboo, Github, Jenkinks).

Responsibilities : We are seeking a highly experienced Postgres Database Administrator with a minimum of 10 years of strong and relevant experience.

This extensive experience is critical for architecting, designing, setting up, and managing large scale application database systems having complex database structures.

The successful applicant should have a proven track record of administrating PostgreSQL databases, specifically within AWS RDS environments. This role demands a proactive individual who can manage, maintain, and optimize our database systems to ensure high availability and performance, especially in environments with more than 2,000 tables across multiple schemas.

The ability to quickly understand application database models and entity relationships, and to start demonstrating DBA skillsets in a fast-paced project environment, is essential. Amazon RDS flips role as a DBA around, so you spend only a fraction of your time on routine management tasks.

This leaves the rest of your time for aligning your work more closely with the business and value derived from the data assets that you manage. You can then focus on lending your DBA skills to application teams and end users—helping deliver new features, functionality, and proactive tuning value to the core business.

Setup and Configuration : Architect, design, and implement PostgreSQL databases on AWS RDS, ensuring optimal configuration for performance and scalability. Configure parameter groups, option groups, and security groups for AWS RDS Postgres instances. Configure and manage database users, roles and Set up and manage database instances, including multi-AZ deployments for high availability. Implement automated backups, snapshots, and point in time recovery configurations. Configure monitoring and alerting using AWS CloudWatch and other monitoring tools.

Database Management : Manage and maintain PostgreSQL databases with more than 2,000 tables across multiple schemas. Ensure data is available, protected from loss and corruption, and easily accessible. Perform database tuning, optimization, and troubleshooting to ensure high performance and availability. Implement and manage database security measures, including user access controls and data encryption. Develop and maintain database backup and recovery procedures. Follow operation run books to ensure consistent and reliable database operations. Schema Design and Access Patterns : Design database schemas, access patterns, and locking strategies to ensure data integrity and optimal performance. Scripting and Automation : Extensive experience with writing shell/bash/Python scripts related to Postgres DB management and automation. Develop and maintain scripts for automating routine database tasks and processes.
