Job Title: Senior GitHub Enterprise Platform Consultant – Engineering Innovation Center (EIC)
Reports To: Engineering Innovation Center Practice Lead
Location: Remote
Duration: ~12 weeks/ 3months (with potential extension)

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior GitHub Enterprise Platform Consultant to support a strategic consulting engagement with ourCorporation. This engagement is positioned under the Engineering Innovation Center (EIC) and focuses on establishing a governed, secure, and observable GitHub Enterprise environment using Enterprise Managed Users (EMU).

The consultant will provide strategic guidance, best practices, and knowledge transfer to our Cloud and Automation Solutions (CAS) team. All implementation work will be performed by our IT; the consultant’s role is advisory and knowledge-transfer focused.

This engagement serves as the foundational platform layer required before we can successfully launch its citizen developer and AI SDLC programs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead discovery and alignment workshops with our stakeholders to understand current state, constraints, and target operating model.
  • Provide expert guidance on GitHub Enterprise Cloud with Enterprise Managed Users (EMU), including SSO/SCIM integration with Microsoft Entra ID.
  • Deliver knowledge transfer on GitHub Advanced Security (GHAS) — licensing, capabilities, and recommended configuration for a citizen-developer environment.
  • Advise on backup and recovery strategies, including GitHub’s native capabilities and recommended third-party solutions.
  • Recommend a monitoring architecture that integrates GitHub audit, license, pipeline, and security data into our existing Splunk infrastructure.
  • Define governance best practices, including enterprise-level policies, organization and team structure, naming conventions, permission models, and clear ownership boundaries between platform and developer teams.
  • Design GitHub Actions governance frameworks covering allowed actions, runner strategy (hosted vs. self-hosted), usage limits, cost controls, and pipeline standards suitable for citizen developers.
  • Provide recommendations on issue tracking and IT escalation patterns, including integration options between GitHub Issues and Jira.
  • Produce high-quality deliverables including governance frameworks, architecture recommendations, operating models, and knowledge transfer documentation.
  • Facilitate workshops and training sessions to ensure our CAS team can confidently own and operate the platform long-term.

Required Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in platform engineering, DevOps, or enterprise GitHub consulting.
  • Deep hands-on expertise with GitHub Enterprise Cloud, including Enterprise Managed Users (EMU), SCIM provisioning, and SSO with Microsoft Entra ID.
  • Strong working knowledge of GitHub Advanced Security (GHAS), including secret scanning, code scanning, dependency review, and security overview dashboards.
  • Proven experience designing governed GitHub environments for citizen developers or low-code / non-engineering users.
  • Experience with GitHub Actions governance, runner strategies, and cost management.
  • Familiarity with Splunk or similar SIEM platforms for ingesting GitHub audit and security data.
  • Solid understanding of Jira + GitHub Issues integration patterns and cross-tool escalation workflows.
  • Strong consulting and communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into actionable recommendations for both technical and business stakeholders.
  • Experience delivering advisory/consulting engagements where the client performs the implementation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience working with SOC 2 or similar compliance frameworks in a GitHub Enterprise context.
  • Background in Engineering Innovation Center (EIC) or platform engineering practices.
  • Experience supporting AI SDLC or citizen developer enablement programs.
  • Familiarity with Freshservice or similar IT service management tools for access request automation.
