Job Description

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a highly experienced Network Architect to lead enterprise network modernization efforts supporting complex DoD and national security missions throughout the Pacific region. This role serves as the senior technical authority and principal network designer, responsible for enterprise architecture, technical baselines, engineering standards, and mission-critical network transformation initiatives. The ideal candidate has deep experience designing and sustaining large-scale classified networks while leading engineering teams and advising senior government leadership. Work Environment: Full-time, 100% on-site role in Honolulu, HI supporting mission-critical defense network modernization and operations. Position requires close collaboration with senior military leadership, engineering teams, and government stakeholders across multiple geographic regions and secure environments. Responsibilities: * Lead the design, implementation, and modernization of enterprise network architectures supporting mission and operational requirements across multiple global locations. * Develop and maintain logical, physical, cybersecurity, and operational network architectures aligned to government requirements. * Own the network technical baseline including routing, switching, segmentation, WAN transport, QoS, encryption, SDN, monitoring, and high-availability architectures. * Develop and approve engineering implementation plans, IP schemes, routing plans, Bills of Material, cutover plans, rollback plans, and as-built documentation. * Serve as the highest-level escalation point for Tier III/IV network issues including routing, transport, interoperability, cybersecurity boundaries, failover, and performance challenges. * Lead root cause analysis efforts and implement enterprise-wide corrective actions for recurring technical issues. * Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and oversight to network engineering teams supporting installations, upgrades, incidents, and modernization efforts. * Integrate Zero Trust, ICAM, segmentation, logging, continuous monitoring, vulnerability management, and STIG compliance into enterprise network designs. * Support project planning, technical reviews, design validation, testing, operational acceptance, and network transition activities. * Brief senior government leadership, executives, and military stakeholders on network strategy, risks, and modernization initiatives. * Support engineering estimates, resource planning, technical risk assessments, and long-term infrastructure investment strategies. Qualifications: * Bachelor's degree in Network Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Electrical Engineering, Cybersecurity, or related technical discipline. * Minimum 15 years of progressive network engineering experience, including 7+ years in senior architect, chief engineer, or technical leadership positions. * Active Cisco CCIE Enterprise Infrastructure or CCIE Security certification required. * Expert-level knowledge of enterprise networking technologies including BGP, OSPF, MPLS, VRFs, VLANs, QoS, multicast, SDN, firewalls, encryption, WAN transport, and network management systems. * Experience designing and supporting large-scale classified and unclassified DoD networks including NIPRNet and SIPRNet environments. * Strong understanding of RMF, Zero Trust architecture, STIGs, vulnerability management, configuration management, and operational sustainment processes. * Proven leadership experience guiding engineering teams and communicating technical risks to senior decision-makers. * Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Clearance Requirement: * Active TS/SCI eligibility required on Day One . Preferred: * Master's degree in a related technical discipline. * 20+ years of DoD or national security network engineering experience. * Experience with JWICS, MPE/CENTRIX, CSfC, Type 1 Encryption, and Cross Domain Solutions (CDS) . * Active certifications such as PMP , ITIL , or related leadership credentials. * Experience supporting Pacific theater, joint military, or enterprise defense network environments.
