Title: Supervising Electrical Engineer
Location: San Diego, CA
Work Mode: Hybrid — Monday to Thursday in the office for 9 hours; Friday remotely for 4 hours.
Duration: Full Time
 
Position Summary
We are seeking a Supervising Electrical Engineer to join our team in San Diego, CA. The Supervising Engineer will represent the firm in interactions with clients, contractors, architects, and other project team members. The role is responsible for supervising, coordinating, and assigning projects to the engineering team.
Mission Critical, Science + Technology, Healthcare, and Project Management experience is a plus.
 
Job Responsibilities
As a Supervising Electrical Engineer, you will serve as the Engineer of Record on dedicated projects and be responsible for supervising and leading coordination meetings. You will lead and supervise staff members as they perform their tasks and participate in budgeting, scheduling, and staff management.
 
Additional Responsibilities
  • Provide periodic objective and comprehensive employee evaluations.
  • Act as Engineer of Record on dedicated projects.
  • Assist the Technical Manager and Chief Engineer with business unit technical training and staff mentoring.
  • Coordinate and assign projects to the engineering team, including system design and project engineering.
  • Establish design standards, specifications, and criteria for projects.
  • Lead and supervise staff members as they perform their tasks.
  • Manage construction administration duties, including field reports, responses to RFIs, and processing Bulletins and Addenda.
  • Coordinate with accounting to prepare monthly project invoices.
  • Monitor project accounts receivable and contact clients as needed to expedite payment.
  • Monitor correspondence between staff, clients, contractors, owners, and other project team members.
  • Participate in and contribute to the firmwide Expert Teams committee.
  • Participate in budgeting, scheduling, and staff management.
  • Prepare proposals and administer project contracts between the firm and the client, including Add Service Agreements.
  • Supervise and lead coordination meetings.
  • Supervise the preparation of analysis and reports of system options and building conditions.
 
Job Requirements
  • Current PE registration/licensure required.
  • Healthcare design experience required.
  • Experience with Critical Facilities, Commercial, and Aviation projects is a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from an accredited institution.
  • 12+ years of experience working in a consulting firm.
  • Senior-level experience with a background in the MEP Engineering Industry.
  • 3+ years of supervisory experience.
  • Hands-on design and CAD/Revit experience required.
  • Strong technical experience in electrical engineering design.
