The Role
As an Electrical Maintenance Engineer / Multi-Skilled Engineer, you will be responsible for planned maintenance, reactive repairs, fault finding and engineering support across hatchery and site equipment.
This will include maintaining incubators, hatchers, ancillary hatchery equipment, automatic handling systems and wider production machinery. You will respond quickly to breakdowns, investigate faults, carry out repairs and support improvements to equipment reliability and performance.
You will also support health, safety, welfare and biosecurity standards across the hatchery, while keeping accurate maintenance records and contributing to continuous improvement activity.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain incubators, hatchers and associated hatchery equipment
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance across production and site equipment
- Respond quickly to breakdowns and equipment faults
- Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical issues
- Maintain automatic handling systems and production machinery
- Investigate faults and implement timely corrective actions
- Support improvements to equipment reliability and performance
- Carry out servicing, repairs and general engineering support
- Support engineering projects, upgrades and equipment installations
- Maintain accurate maintenance and breakdown records
- Support health, safety, welfare and biosecurity standards
- Liaise with the Maintenance Manager on current and future equipment issues
- Support spare parts control, workshop standards and stores housekeeping

You will need:
- Mechanical and electrical maintenance experience
- Strong electrical fault-finding skills
- Recognised mechanical and/or electrical engineering qualification
- Experience in production, manufacturing, food manufacturing, FMCG, automated handling, hatchery, agricultural processing or a similar environment
- Good understanding of planned and reactive maintenance
- A proactive, responsible and safety-conscious approach
- Strong attention to detail
- Good organisational skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Willingness to work a 4 on 4 off days and nights shift pattern
Previous hatchery maintenance experience would be beneficial, but it is not essential. Candidates from food manufacturing, FMCG, automated production, poultry, agriculture, packaging, process manufacturing or similar engineering environments will also be considered.
Location
The role is based at Newark Hatchery, and is commutable from Newark, Lincoln, Grantham, Mansfield, Retford, Sleaford, Worksop, Nottingham, Bingham, Southwell and surrounding areas.
