Manufacturing Engineer<br />Permanent<br />Nottingham<br />Up to £65,000 per annum EMBS Engineering are recruiting for a Manufacturing Engineer to join a precision engineering and advanced manufacturing business. This is a hands-on engineering role, providing leadership and support to a manufacturing value stream to sustain and improve safety, quality, delivery and cost (SQCDP) through practical engineering solutions. The role covers continuous improvement, reverse engineering, capital project delivery and new product introduction, working closely with cross-functional teams to reduce scrap, improve process capability and support commercial growth. Key Responsibilities
- Review daily, monthly and annual performance metrics with the Value Stream Manager, recommending improvements to machinery, tooling and production methods to raise process capability.
- Lead cross-functional investigations into safety and quality issues, identifying root cause and implementing corrective and preventive actions.
- Manage capital expenditure projects from quotation through to qualification (IQ/OQ/PQ), including input to annual budgeting and emergency capital requests.
- Produce documentation to support automated processes and the introduction of new or improved products and equipment, working with engineering and automation teams.
- Lead initiatives to strengthen preventative maintenance and reduce the risk of unplanned downtime on critical equipment.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of customer and industry technical requirements, working across local and global operations.
- Support continuous improvement activity, including Lean and Six Sigma methods, to reduce scrap and deliver cost savings.
- Champion compliance with safety and quality standards, acting as a role model for SQCDP behaviours. Essential
- Degree qualified in an Engineering discipline.
- Background in CNC machining.
- Experience working within a precision engineering or advanced manufacturing environment.
- Proven experience of reverse engineering and internal continuous improvement projects.
- Sound understanding of SQCDP, and experience using engineering solutions to improve safety, quality, delivery and cost.
- Practical experience applying Process Mapping, PFMEA, Process Design, DFM (Cpk, Ppk) and/or DMAIC tools, either independently or as part of a project team.
- Around 3-6 years of relevant engineering experience.
- Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing tools, with practical application in a manufacturing setting.
- Understanding of Statistical Process Control (SPC) and the ability to analyse data. Desirable
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt, or equivalent Lean Practitioner training.
- Working knowledge of materials used within precision engineering or advanced manufacturing settings.
