Job Title: Senior Cloud DevOps Engineer

Location: Evanston, IL Hybrid onsite 2 days per week

Position: 6-month Contract with Intent to Hire (Contract to Hire)

TalentFish is casting a line for a Senior DevOps Engineer to join our client's technology team in Evanston, IL. This is a 6-month contract with intent to convert to full-time hire. Candidates must reside in the Chicagoland area and be available to work onsite in Evanston, IL every Monday and Wednesday.

Overview

  • This is a hands-on Cloud Engineering opportunity for an experienced cloud professional who will help build, automate, and support scalable cloud infrastructure and deployment solutions.
  • The Cloud Engineer will work with Kubernetes, container technologies, Terraform, and CI/CD tools to improve infrastructure reliability, application delivery, and operational efficiency.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is a senior, hands-on Cloud DevOps or Platform Engineer who brings strong Cloud and DevOps engineering experience and solid technical leadership, sound architectural judgment, and clear communication skills.

  • Has personally designed and built cloud infrastructure not simply supported environments created by others.
  • Brings recent Azure expertise, credible AWS experience, and advanced hands-on skills with Terraform, Kubernetes, GitHub Actions, and CI/CD pipeline development.
  • Able to evaluate and stabilize vendor-built architecture, identify design and operational gaps, and independently lead the replication of an Azure Infrastructure as Code (IaC) framework into AWS.
  • Enjoys working collaboratively across technical teams and can contribute effectively within an established enterprise environment.

What You Bring to the Role (Experience Requirements)

  • 6+ years of experience in Cloud Engineering, DevOps Engineering, Infrastructure Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Kubernetes and containerized environments.
  • Experience designing, building, and supporting CI/CD pipelines.
  • Strong experience with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
  • Experience deploying and maintaining scalable cloud infrastructure.
  • Understanding of cloud security, networking, access controls, and infrastructure best practices.
  • Experience troubleshooting cloud infrastructure, deployment, and application environment issues.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.

What You'll Do

  • Build, configure, and support cloud infrastructure and containerized environments.
  • Deploy and manage Kubernetes clusters, workloads, and supporting services.
  • Develop and maintain Terraform configurations and reusable Infrastructure as Code components.
  • Design, enhance, and support CI/CD pipelines.
  • Automate infrastructure provisioning, application deployment, and operational processes.
  • Partner with application, infrastructure, security, and engineering teams.
  • Monitor cloud environments and troubleshoot performance, availability, and deployment issues.
  • Support cloud governance, security, reliability, and operational best practices.
  • Document technical processes, configurations, and support procedures.
  • Contribute to the continued advancement of the organization's cloud and DevOps capabilities.

Compensation and Employment
This contract to hire role requires authorization to work in the U.S. without current or future visa sponsorship. The expected pay range for this position is $68 - $88 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
