Lab Operations Technician
Location: Sunnyvale, California (On-site)
Role Overview
The Lab Operations Technician supports the daily operation of laboratory and technical workspaces by ensuring equipment, inventory, supplies, and work areas remain organized, safe, and ready for use. This role partners with lab users, facilities teams, and vendors to maintain operational readiness, coordinate logistics, support laboratory moves and installations, and drive an efficient working environment. The successful candidate will play a critical part in maintaining laboratory productivity and safety compliance.
Key Responsibilities

• Maintain organized, clean, and functional laboratory spaces to ensure operational readiness.
• Support laboratory setup, reconfiguration, and workspace optimization initiatives.
• Perform routine walkthroughs and identify continuous improvement opportunities within the workspace.
• Ensure tools, equipment, and supplies are properly organized, calibrated, and accessible to users.
• Manage inventory of laboratory supplies, personal protective equipment, tools, and consumables.
• Conduct inventory audits, coordinate restocking activities, and maintain accurate asset records.
• Support shipping, receiving, equipment deliveries, and material movement within the facility.
• Assist with equipment installations, relocations, decommissioning, and basic preventative maintenance.
• Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and facilities teams to support laboratory infrastructure.
• Conduct routine safety inspections and ensure compliance with workplace safety standards.

Required Qualifications
Education: High school diploma or equivalent is required. An Associate degree or technical certification is preferred.
Experience: One or more years of experience in laboratory operations, facilities management, inventory control, manufacturing, technical operations, or a closely related environment.
Technical Skills: Strong organizational and time-management capabilities. Demonstrated ability to manage inventory, supplies, equipment, or operational assets. Strong communication and customer service skills, with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment. Basic knowledge of workplace safety practices.
Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting laboratory, engineering, testing, manufacturing, or research and development environments.
• Familiarity with inventory tracking systems or asset management platforms.
• Experience coordinating with vendors and supporting facilities operations.
• Experience assisting with equipment moves, installations, or workspace planning.
• Mechanical aptitude and basic troubleshooting capabilities.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift and move equipment, tools, and materials.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform physical tasks throughout the day.
• Ability to work safely around laboratory and technical equipment.
