Senior Mainframe Infrastructure Engineer

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Mainframe Infrastructure Engineer (System Programmer) to support, maintain, and govern an enterprise Mainframe environment. This role is responsible for ensuring platform stability, security, compliance, production support, and contributing to ongoing Mainframe modernization initiatives. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in IBM z/OS infrastructure and experience working with managed service providers and enterprise production environments.

Required Skills & Experience

• 10+ years of hands-on Mainframe System Programming experience
• Strong expertise in IBM z/OS
• Experience working with:
  • IMS
  • DB2
  • RACF
  • JCL
  • CICS
  • VSAM
  • TSO/ISPF
  • SQL
• Mainframe infrastructure engineering and administration
• Production support and operational management
• Vendor and Managed Service Provider (MSP) coordination
• Incident Management, Change Management, and Root Cause Analysis (RCA)

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in Banking, Financial Services, Mortgage, or Capital Markets environments
• Knowledge of:
  • IBM zSecure
  • CARLa
  • Dell Storage
  • CA JobTrac
• Mainframe security, audit, risk, and compliance experience
• Experience supporting enterprise-scale Mainframe modernization initiatives

Key Responsibilities

• Support, administer, and maintain Mainframe (z/OS) infrastructure
• Coordinate infrastructure changes with vendors, managed service providers, and internal teams
• Review and support system upgrades, maintenance activities, and production releases
• Ensure platform availability, performance, security, and SLA compliance
• Maintain audit readiness and adherence to compliance requirements
• Lead production incident resolution efforts and perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA)
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support strategic Mainframe initiatives
• Provide governance and operational oversight of the Mainframe environment

Ideal Candidate Profile

• Extensive experience as a Mainframe System Programmer
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Ability to manage critical production environments
• Experience working in highly regulated enterprise environments
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
• Background in Banking, Financial Services, or other large-scale enterprise organizations
