The Role • Develop functional designs for Control & Instrumentation (C&I) solutions for electrical systems, deriving from P&ID. • Produce Bills of Materials for C&I equipment and specify instrumentation for various process conditions. • Create C&I designs that comply with stringent functional, safety, defence, British, naval, and nuclear standards. • Assess and measure compliance against non-functional requirements such as EMC, shock, and metallics. • Generate verification evidence to demonstrate design compliance with all requirements. • Produce essential design documents including I/O schedules, instrument schedules, and functional design specifications. What You'll Need • BEng (Hons) / MEng or equivalent qualification. • Demonstrable experience across the engineering lifecycle, with a strong understanding of system calculations, modelling, and analysis. • Experience with high, medium, and low voltage systems, and knowledge of control system architecture and communication protocols. • Familiarity with IEC 61508 for Functional Safety or similar, and experience specifying equipment for Hazardous Areas. • Experience in technical report writing and working towards professional registration. • Multi-disciplinary engineering understanding, encompassing Mechanical, Process, Instrument, Electrical, Control, and Safety aspects.
