Job Description

Contract : w2/c2c

Must have Retails supply chain and Google Cloud Platform experience

This role is a little different than the EDP Solutions Architect we had last month that was put on hold. This one is more senior and at the platform level as opposed to the Use Case/work stream level.

The EDP Data Architect is the enterpriselevel owner of the entire data architecture for the platform. This role defines the patterns, principles, and standards that govern how data is structured, integrated, and made available across all domains. It owns the canonical/conformed data model, the dimensional modeling standards for the gold layer, and the technical implementation of data governance, metadata, lineage, and certification tiers. The Data Architect reviews architectural decisions across all workstreams to ensure consistency, establishes reference architectures and pattern libraries, and sets the standards that every Solution Architect and engineering team must execute against. It is a platformenablement, enterprisescope role with deeper BigQuery specialization and heavier responsibility for governance, consistency, and crossteam alignment.

By contrast, the Solution Architect operates at the workstream and usecase level. Their job is to take the standards defined by the Data Architect and apply them within a specific migration wave or netnew data product build. They design ingestion patterns, transformation logic, dimensional models, and Google Cloud Platform service usage for their assigned domain. Solution Architects partner closely with engineers to guide implementation and ensure builds match design intent, but they do not own the enterprise canonical model, governance architecture, or platformwide standards. In short: the Solution Architect delivers solutions within a workstream; the Data Architect defines the enterprise framework those solutions must follow.

The candidates for the new data architect role should have the following....

EDP Data Architect

Enterprise Architecture Ownership

  • Enterprisewide data architecture, not projectlevel
  • Platform standards, patterns, and conformed models across domains

Canonical / Conformed Model

  • Ownership of canonical entities (customer, product, order, inventory)
  • Enforced consistency across multiple teams

Dimensional & Medallion Standards

  • Star schema standards, conformed dimensions, grain definitions
  • Defined bronze/silver/gold modeling standards (not just built them)

Deep BigQuery Expertise

  • Partitioning, clustering, cost/performance tuning
  • Datasetlevel access control and dimensional modeling in BigQuery

Governance Architecture

  • Metadata, lineage, classification, ownership models
  • Handson experience with Dataplex, Collibra, or Alation

CrossWorkstream Influence

  • Reviewed designs across teams
  • Built reference architectures or pattern libraries
