Job Title: Computer Engineer
Minimum Clearance Required to Start: Secret
Percentage of Travel Required: Up to 25% The Opportunity:
Amatriot is currently looking for a mid-level Computer Engineer to join our team supporting Office of Naval Research (ONR) for the Department of Defense.  Join our passionate team of industry-leading individuals on a program that leverages the best practices in Systems Engineering and Rapid Prototyping to integrate and deliver state-of-the-art capability in support of our nation’s warfighters. Responsibilities:
For this Computer Engineer position, you will be responsible for conducting research, developing new engineering solutions, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to bring cutting-edge technologies to life.
You will: • Design, develop, and test firmware and embedded C software for microcontrollers (e.g., RP2040 architectures) and single-board computers. Implement communication protocols (e.g., I2C, SPI, UART, Ethernet) to reliably interface with sensors and custom hardware. • Develop and integrate software for autonomy, control algorithms, and edge computing on robotics platforms. Utilize frameworks like ROS (Robot Operating System) to integrate custom code with COTS/GOTS hardware to support fast-paced project requirements. • Perform hands-on benchtop debugging, code flashing, and software-to-hardware integration alongside electrical and mechanical engineers to build functional prototypes. • Ensure that a level 2 Technical Data Package (TDP) is prepared and delivered for assigned projects that reach the prototype or low-rate production stages of development. The contractor shall assist in the development of the TDP. • Create and maintain basic briefs for various prototype devices and prepare and deliver Installation Plans and drawings, as well as Test Plans for functional, performance, and environmental testing of prototypes. • Validate hardware integration performance using approved industry and site-specific construction codes and policies. • Travel to various Continental United States (CONUS) locations to support live test events and operational evaluations. Provide essential on-site technical support, real-time troubleshooting, and data collection for prototype systems under test. • Interact with and coordinate prototype and low-rate installation and/or production with external parties tasked with producing units for assigned projects. • Provide routine status updates and communicate urgent matters involving production issues to management and other stakeholders in a timely manner via phone, email, or other normal communication methods. • Purchase material for the government as needed to support prototype and low-rate production for assigned projects. Qualifications:
Required:  • A-BET accredited Bachelor’s Degree in computer engineering field or similar engineering discipline • Minimum 3 years of experience in a position requiring engineering expertise • Eligibility for a SECRET clearance. • Proficiency in CAD software and knowledge of simulation and analysis tools • Robotics experience • Experience with microcontrollers • Experience prepping TDPs • Understanding of simulation and analysis tools • Excellent technical writing and data presentation skills • Track record of complex problem-solving aptitude • Ability to think analytically and independently • Team orientated • Excellent problem-solving skills • Ability to communicate clearly both orally and in written form • Willingness to learn new skills • Ability to work on multiple projects concurrently Desired: • 5-10 years Computer Engineering experience or other related technical field • Existing experience producing civil systems and/or prototypes for projects on IAC MAC task orders • Experience in a civil engineering position working with IAC MAC customers • Experience in DoD customer relations and civil engineering
