Job Description

 
Job Title: Windows Server Administrator
Location: Springfield, NJ Hybrid
Contract Duration: 6 Months
Pay Rate: $53/hr - 58/hr.
Openings: 1
 
Mandatory Skill Matrix:

  • Windows Servers: 7+ years
  • Windows PowerShell: 7+ years
  • SCCM/MECM: 7+ years
  • Qualys Guard: 7+ years
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare selected Windows servers and confirm that required prerequisites are in place.
  • Execute and validate test cases for Microsoft monthly patches, third-party application patches, vulnerability remediation actions, and registry fixes.
  • Validate server health before and after patching, including services, application dependencies, event logs, restart behavior, and system availability.
  • Troubleshoot Windows Server issues within the infrastructure support scope.
  • Document issues that require additional support from AltaGas or Qualys.
  • Support approved network or connectivity changes when testing requires a new port, URL allow-list entry, or firewall modification.
  • Maintain detailed test records, risks, supporting evidence, failures, rollback requirements, and follow-up actions.
  • Contribute technical findings, limitations, risks, and recommendations to the final PoC report.
  • Coordinate with Desktop Support, Linux Administration, application owners, and other stakeholders.
 
Required Experience:
  • Strong hands-on Windows Server administration experience in an enterprise environment
  • Experience supporting enterprise Windows Server versions
  • Microsoft server patching experience using WSUS, SCCM, or MECM
  • Experience assessing patch prerequisites, maintenance windows, restart requirements, service dependencies, and recovery considerations
  • Troubleshooting experience with Windows services, event logs, registry settings, network connectivity, and failed patch installations
  • Working knowledge of vulnerability remediation and Windows security configuration
  • PowerShell experience for validation, evidence collection, and troubleshooting
  • Ability to prepare clear test logs and communicate technical risks and findings.
 
Preferred Experience:
  • Qualys VMDR or Qualys Patch Management
  • Testing patch-management tools across Windows Server groups
  • Server backup, rollback, and recovery validation
  • Hybrid or cloud-connected Windows Server environments
