Job Description

Your new company An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Infrastructure Engineer to join a well-established technology services organisation with a growing presence in Tasmania. Based in Hobart, this permanent role will see you supporting and improving enterprise Linux and cloud environments that underpin critical services across the state. Working closely with both local and national engineering teams, you'll play a key role in maintaining platform stability, security and operational excellence in mission-critical environments where availability and reliability are paramount.

Your new role

As an Infrastructure Engineer, you will be responsible for administering and supporting Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) environments, ensuring systems remain secure, available and performing at their best. You will manage patching and upgrades, monitor infrastructure health, respond to incidents, and contribute to ongoing platform improvement initiatives. Working across Azure and AWS environments, you'll help strengthen infrastructure resilience, support security and compliance requirements, and participate in a 24/7 on-call roster. You'll take ownership of critical incidents from identification through to resolution, applying strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills while working within established change management and governance frameworks. You'll also be responsible for conducting root cause analysis and maintaining operational documentation and standards.

What you'll need to succeed
  • Mandatory RHCE (Red Hat Certified Engineer) certification
  • Strong experience administering enterprise Linux/RHEL environments
  • Infrastructure engineering experience within enterprise or managed services environments
  • Experience supporting Azure and/or AWS platforms
  • Strong troubleshooting, incident management and problem-solving skills
  • Experience with patching, upgrades, system hardening and vulnerability remediation
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively
  • The ability to pass a mandatory police check
  • Highly regarded: Experience within utilities, critical infrastructure, OT environments or managed services
