Summary

Join an Agile/Scrum development organization with responsibility to maintain and further develop Smart Communications' product and user documentation. Responsible for communicating technical messages of the SmartCOMM and SmartIQ software to ensure user comprehension through designing and writing documentation, including manuals, installation guides, how-to documents, or online help.

Who are you?

We are looking for a talented technical writer to help create and build out a modern documentation and user assistance infrastructure. You will be a core part of the team working closely with engineering, product marketing, and customer enablement to create resources that don't just document what the product does, but accelerates a user from novice to power user.

The responsibilities of the role include:

• Work within the Agile/Scrum using continuous delivery methodology and liaise with developers and QA to understand the developments in our software including changes and enhancements.
• Plans and manages authoring projects.
• Gathers and analyzes the information needs of the users.
• Sets up document standards, organizing and designing the information effectively.
• Writes, edits, and presents the information in clear and simple English.
• Commissions, coordinates or prepares illustrations, as required.
• Indexes and catalogues material.
• Liaises with translators, printers, and service providers.
• Manages the translation of documentation into other languages.
• Tests documentation to ensure that it matches the delivered product.
• Resolves documentation bugs.
• Liaises with training team to ensure consistency of information.
• Liaises with developers, architects, product owners, and sales and marketing specialists to ensure accurate documentation of product features and functionality and reflecting the Smart Communications brand.
• Deliver against company revenue target.
• Deliver against scheduled release targets.

What we're looking for:

Must have skills/experience:

• Solid experience and capability in technical writing
• A proven ability to write clear and concise documentation.
• Writes user and installation documentation.
• Experience of both on-premise and SaaS products.
• Appreciates technical concepts such as HTML, J2EE, and XML.
• Experience with single sourcing authoring tools such as Author-it and Readme.io.
• Ideally experienced working in an Agile/Scrum methodology environment
• Ideally degree level educated.
