Job Description

Senior UX Designer

Rate: £450/day
IR35: Inside IR35
Location: Predominantly remote, with travel mainly to Manchester and occasional London visits 1-3 times per month
Contract: 3 months initially, with extension likely
Start: ASAP, maximum one week notice

We're looking for a Senior UX Designer to help shape a new digital learning experience for primary-aged children.

The programme is focused on creating an engaging, habit-forming learning product that combines game-based practice, rewards, progression and personalised content to help KS1-KS2 learners build proficiency in core concepts.

Key experience

  • Senior UX or Product Design experience
  • A portfolio showing digital education products designed specifically for children
  • Ideally, direct experience designing for KS1-KS2 or equivalent age groups
  • Understanding of literacy, motor skills, attention span, cognitive load and neurodiversity
  • Hands-on research and testing experience with children, parents and teachers
  • Experience designing gamified learning, including rewards, streaks, badges and progression systems
  • Understanding of meaningful engagement mechanics that support learning outcomes
  • Strong continuous discovery and concept-validation experience
  • Confidence operating as part of a Product Trio alongside Product and Engineering
  • Knowledge of safeguarding, ethical child-centred design and parental consent
  • Experience designing general consumer products or adult learning platforms will not be sufficient without clear evidence of creating educational experiences specifically for children.
