About the Role
Our firm is partnering with a leading national retailer to identify a Data Analyst – Finance Data Platform to support a large-scale finance modernization initiative. The client is one of the country''s most recognized retail brands, operating at massive scale across stores, digital, supply chain, and merchandising. As part of their ongoing transformation, they are modernizing their legacy Finance mainframe applications and migrating to a modern Google Cloud Platform (Google Cloud Platform) data environment.
This role will play a critical part in ensuring data integrity throughout the migration by validating, reconciling, and reporting on data movement between legacy and modern platforms. The analyst will collaborate closely with product, engineering, and business teams to identify variances, uncover root causes, and support Go-Live decisions during a two-quarter parallel operation period.

Job Description
As the Data Analyst – Finance Data Platform, you will:
  • Develop queries and datasets to validate legacy versus modern application data and identify variances.
  • Build reports using end-user visualization tools to present variances and trends between source systems.
  • Document data variances and root causes in collaboration with Product Managers, Engineers, and Business Teams, and obtain business sign-off for known variances.
  • Build dashboards to monitor data variance trends for stakeholders and help determine tolerance thresholds for Go-Live decisions.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to support the modernization of Finance applications and the two-quarter parallel operation period.
  • Contribute to a collaborative agile delivery environment, participating in sprint ceremonies, defect triage, and iterative delivery cycles.
This is a high-impact opportunity to contribute to one of the most significant data platform transformations in the retail industry. You''ll work at the intersection of finance, engineering, and analytics — helping shape how a Fortune 500 retailer reports, reconciles, and relies on its financial data going forward. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented problem solver who thrives in complex data environments, enjoys digging into root-cause analysis, and can translate technical findings into clear, actionable insights for both technical and business stakeholders.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of hands-on SQL experience with big data platforms/databases such as Google BigQuery, Hadoop, or similar.
  • Senior-level experience with ETL and data pipeline tools such as Dataproc, Airflow, Dataform, dbt, or similar.
  • Solid experience with Python/PySpark coding for data movement and analysis.
  • Experience with data visualization and reporting tools such as Power BI, Looker, and LookML for dashboard development, KPI reconciliation, semantic layer validation, and data analysis.
  • Strong background in data analysis, data validation, source-to-target reconciliation, duplicate detection, reject/error validation, audit/control total validation, and business rule validation.
  • Ability to analyze mapping documents, reporting requirements, transformation logic, data lineage, and data quality rules.
  • Experience creating reconciliation reports, validation summaries, exception reports, defect logs, and business sign-off documentation.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work closely with engineering, product, finance, business, and legacy system teams.
  • 5+ years working in a data analytics role.
  • 1–3 years of experience working in an agile team.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prior retail industry experience, particularly working with large enterprise data in finance, supply chain, merchandising, inventory, stores, sales, digital, product, or customer domains.
  • Experience working with Google Cloud Medallion Data Layer and Google Cloud Platform-supported data processing tools.
  • Familiarity with SAP S/4HANA data structure and finance domain report building experience.
  • Experience working in agile delivery environments, including user stories, acceptance criteria, sprint ceremonies, defect triage, and iterative delivery.
