Service Engineer

Location:Milton Keynes / UK Travel Required
Salary: Competitive Overtime Expenses
Field-Based Role with UK & Occasional Overseas Travel

We are seeking a Service Engineer to join a specialist engineering business supporting advanced electrical systems and equipment installed in the Marine Industry. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Service Engineer who enjoys fault finding, commissioning, technical support, and working in varied marine environments.

Key Responsibilities of this Service Engineer role:
  • Carry out commissioning, fault finding, servicing and maintenance of electrical and electromechanical equipment.
  • Provide technical support to customers via telephone and email.
  • Diagnose and repair faults on installed equipment and systems.
  • Conduct vessel surveys and produce detailed service and inspection reports.
  • Deliver training and technical assistance to customer personnel.
  • Support continuous improvement by providing feedback to engineering and production teams.
  • Assist with technical documentation, manuals, risk assessments and support processes.
Requirements for this Service Engineer role:
  • Minimum 3 years' experience as a Service Engineer carrying out fault finding, diagnosis and maintenance of electrical or electromechanical equipment.
  • Strong understanding of motor control, power distribution, transformers and PLC systems.
  • Ability to update and maintain PLC programs and settings.
  • Able to read and interpret complex electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
  • Electrical Engineering qualification, HNC, NVQ or equivalent industry experience.
  • Excellent fault-finding, communication and report-writing skills.
  • Willingness to travel across the UK and occasionally overseas, including working away from home for up to 23 weeks at a time.
  • Marine, naval or defence sector experience would be advantageous for a Service Engineer.
