Job Description

This Full time Cyber Security Analyst role, based in Leeds within a growing team, focuses on protecting the confidentiality, integrity and availability of data across the organisation and its clients. You will use strong analytical skills, deep technical knowledge and a solid understanding of products, services and service management processes to deliver robust cyber security and high-quality customer service. Working closely with IT teams and stakeholders across the business, you will develop and maintain cyber security solutions, respond to threats, and ensure the integrity of data and systems in a hybrid working environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain a range of cyber security solutions that protect the organisation's data and IT assets.
• Analyse and apply threat intelligence to respond to day-to-day cyber threats, implementing appropriate mitigating controls and solutions where required.
• Maintain and update the IT vulnerability and remediation database to support audit compliance and safeguard infrastructure.
• Collaborate with all areas of the global IT Department to ensure security is Embedded from the implementation of new systems through to the maintenance and monitoring of existing and Legacy systems.
• Organise and oversee penetration testing from planning through to remediation, ensuring issues are prioritised appropriately and resolved with the right expertise.
• Define, plan, implement, maintain and upgrade security measures, policies and controls across the IT environment.
• Advise on and recommend communications to the business, customers and suppliers in the event of a cyber security incident.
• Develop and maintain the security of IT services, including liaising with third parties to ensure systems are patched, vulnerabilities are resolved and configurations are hardened.
• Create and update security support documentation, including processes and procedures, to ensure consistent and effective support.
• Stay up to date with the latest security news, principles, techniques, threat intelligence and protocols, and apply them to improve security posture.
• Operate within an ITIL v3-focused service delivery framework and adhere to defined Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
• Provide effective stakeholder management across the business, including internal IT teams and external partners.
• Proactively identify areas for improvement in security and service delivery, share lessons learned and encourage continuous improvement within the team.
• Use strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills to identify patterns, recognise trends in data and develop effective solutions to complex security issues.
• Contribute to a culture of openness, honesty, trust, mutual respect and support in line with service excellence values.

Essential Skills

• Minimum of 5 years' true engineering experience in cyber security or closely related IT security roles.
• Hands-on experience with Microsoft Sentinel, including configuration, monitoring and incident response.
• Awareness of core infrastructure technologies such as Azure, Windows Server 2012+, ESX/VMware, Exchange messaging, IIS, SQL 2012+, Linux appliances, Mac OS X, backup technologies, Citrix and Cisco networking including IPT.
• Knowledge and practical usage of Microsoft Azure and Security Suite components, including Sentinel, Defender for Endpoint, Defender for Servers, Defender for Cloud Apps, Intune, Conditional Access Policies and Identity Protection.
• experience with security and supporting technologies such as ANY.RUN, Purview, Zscaler, Mimecast, Thinkst Canary devices, Nessus, Secret Server and Cisco Firepower.
• Awareness of security technologies including SIEM, Firewalls, intrusion detection and prevention systems, anti-virus software, authentication systems, log management, content filtering, endpoint detection and response (EDR), advanced threat protection (ATP), threat and vulnerability management, threat intelligence, sandboxing, mobile device management (MDM) solutions, attack surface reduction rules, web control and category-based URL blocking, controlled folder access, APIs and SIEM connectors.
• Understanding of security approaches such as information security management systems (ISMS), risk analysis and assessments, the CIA triad and common attack vectors including social engineering.
• Knowledge of cryptography, confidentiality issues and relevant legislation such as PACE, DPA, CMA and RIPA, as well as best practices in cyber security incident response, including triage and chain of custody.
• Strong analytical abilities, attention to detail and the capability to recognise trends in data and identify patterns in security events.
• Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to see solutions where others may not.
• Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines and operate independently with limited supervision when required.
• Customer-focused mindset with a passion for delivering customer satisfaction and value to the business.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with people at all levels and manage stakeholders.
