Job Description

At COS, we believe in the power of creative collaboration and the art of timeless design. We are always eager to connect with freelance fashion designers who share our passion for modernity, functional elegance, and innovative craftsmanship. If you are driven to create garments that inspire—pieces that blend sophistication with practicality and elevate everyday wear—we would love to hear your story. We warmly welcome speculative applications from designers who want to shape the future of fashion alongside us.

As a freelance partner, you’ll have the opportunity to contribute to concept development, push boundaries through design exploration, refine products, and infuse our collections with your unique vision.

Although we are keen to connect with talented designers at all stages of their careers, we are especially interested in meeting accomplished senior creatives with expertise and experience in the womenswear collection, other candidates are welcome to register their interest for other freelance positions that may arise in the future.

What We’re Looking For

We’re particularly interested in hearing from designers who can demonstrate:

  • A strong aesthetic aligned with the COS design philosophy
    – Modern, brand relevant, effortless design
    – Silhouette driven designs and innovative construction
    – A depth or understanding for fabric, technique, and thoughtful detail
  • Proven design experience within womenswear, menswear, or accessories
    – Experience in contemporary, premium, or luxury fashion markets
    – Strong ability to interpret brand DNA into commercially relevant design
  • Excellent portfolio that showcases: – Concept development
    – Research and mood exploration
    – Technical sketches and garment details
    – Final product or collection outcomes
    – Exploration of materials, textures, and sustainable design approach
  • Strong technical and creative capabilities
    – Confident hand and digital sketching
    – Understanding of pattern cutting and garment construction
    – Ability to work with 3D design tools
  • Collaborative approach & professional communication
    – Ability to work to briefs, timelines, and feedback
    – Experience working with product development teams or manufacturers
    – Strong organisation and self-management

How to Apply

If you’re interested in being considered for upcoming freelance opportunities, please upload

  • Your CV
  • Portfolio or PDF of recent work (or link to online portfolio)
  • A short introduction outlining your design focus and availability

Please note that all freelance roles require spending a significant amount of time working from our beautiful, art-deco inspired office and atelier in central London. Regular commuting to London is therefore essential for anyone considering a freelance position with us.
