Workato Solution Architect – Workday Financials & Billing Integrations

About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Workato Solution Architect to lead the architecture and delivery of enterprise integrations supporting billing, revenue recognition, and financial business processes.
The role will be part of a billing system migration program, where the existing billing platform is being migrated to a new solution with Workday Financials as the downstream financial system of record. The ideal candidate will bring strong experience in Workato, Workday Financials, billing platforms, revenue processes, and enterprise integration architecture.
This is an architecture-focused role requiring the ability to translate complex business requirements into scalable integration solutions, work closely with Finance and business stakeholders, and provide technical leadership to integration engineers.
 
Key Responsibilities
Solution Architecture & Integration Design
•    Own the end-to-end integration architecture for billing, revenue, and financial business use cases.
•    Translate business requirements into scalable, maintainable Workato-based integration solutions.
•    Define integration patterns, data flows, system boundaries, error handling, monitoring, security, and operational processes.
•    Develop High-Level Designs (HLDs), Low-Level Designs (LLDs), interface specifications, data mappings, and integration standards.
•    Identify opportunities to simplify and standardize integrations as part of the billing-system migration.
•    Evaluate upstream and downstream system dependencies and define appropriate integration strategies.
•    Ensure solutions align with enterprise architecture, security, data, and integration standards.
Workday Financials & Billing
•    Design and architect integrations between Workday Financials and billing/revenue-related systems.
•    Strong understanding of Workday Financials business processes, including areas such as:
o    Customer/Customer Accounts
o    Billing and Invoicing
o    Revenue recognition
o    Accounting and journal processes
o    Payments and settlements
o    Financial reporting
o    Accounting dimensions and worktags
•    Understand how billing transactions flow from operational systems through billing and ultimately into Workday Financials.
•    Design integrations supporting revenue recognition and downstream accounting requirements.
•    Work with Finance stakeholders to understand business rules and translate them into integration logic and data transformations.
•    Support migration of existing billing integrations, processes, and data flows into the target architecture.

Workato Architecture & Development
•    Provide technical leadership for Workato integration development.
•    Define reusable recipes, callable recipes, API-led patterns, error handling, logging, monitoring, and notification frameworks.
•    Establish and enforce Workato development standards, naming conventions, reusable components, and integration patterns.
•    Review integration implementations and provide architectural and technical guidance to engineers.
•    Troubleshoot complex integration issues and drive root-cause analysis.
•    Ensure integrations are designed for scalability, performance, reliability, and maintainability.

Business & Stakeholder Engagement
•    Partner closely with Finance, Accounting, Billing, Revenue Operations, Product, and Engineering teams.
•    Lead technical discussions with business stakeholders and convert business requirements into actionable technical solutions.
•    Challenge requirements where appropriate and recommend simpler or more scalable approaches.
•    Facilitate architecture/design workshops and integration walkthroughs.
•    Communicate complex integration concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
•    Work with project managers and engineering teams to identify dependencies, risks, and delivery milestones.

Migration & Delivery
•    Lead integration architecture for the billing-system migration, including current-state assessment, target-state architecture, gap analysis, and migration strategy.
•    Analyze existing integrations and identify opportunities for modernization, consolidation, and automation.
•    Define migration sequencing and integration dependencies.
•    Support data mapping, reconciliation, parallel runs, cutover, and post-migration validation.
•    Ensure financial data is accurately transferred and reconciled across billing and Workday systems.
•    Support SIT, UAT, production deployment, and hypercare activities.
 
Required Qualifications
•    7+ years of experience in enterprise integration architecture and solution design.
•    3+ years of hands-on Workato experience, including architecture and complex enterprise integrations.
•    Strong experience designing and implementing integrations with Workday Financials.
•    Strong understanding of billing systems and revenue-related business processes.
•    Experience working on billing, invoicing, revenue recognition, accounting, or financial transformation projects.
•    Experience with Workday integration technologies/APIs, such as Workday REST/SOAP APIs, RaaS, Workday Web Services, and related integration mechanisms.
•    Strong understanding of REST APIs, SOAP, JSON, XML, webhooks, OAuth, authentication, and enterprise integration patterns.
•    Experience with data transformation, mapping, validation, reconciliation, and error-handling frameworks.
•    Experience leading integration architecture for large-scale migration or transformation programs.
•    Strong understanding of SDLC, CI/CD, testing, deployment, monitoring, and production support.
•    Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills.
 
Preferred Qualifications
•    Workato certification or advanced Workato experience.
•    Experience with Workday Financial Management implementations.
•    Experience with billing platforms such as Zuora, Stripe, Chargebee, Salesforce Billing, Oracle BRM, SAP BRIM, or similar platforms.
•    Experience with revenue recognition / ASC 606 processes.
•    Experience integrating CRM, CPQ, subscription management, payment, ERP, and financial systems.
•    Experience with event-driven and API-led integration architectures.
•    Experience with financial data reconciliation and migration.
•    Experience working in Agile delivery environments.
•    Experience providing technical leadership to distributed engineering teams.
