Role Description TWe are seeking a sharp, detail-oriented Chartered Accountant or US Certified Public Accountant to lead our financial structuring, treasury, and compliance efforts. This role acts as a strategic bridge between the Indian and U.S. financial ecosystems. You will architect investment vehicles that are tax-efficient for Indian investors, manage fund operations, automate accounting workflows, and ensure ironclad compliance with SEBI/RBI and SEC frameworks.
Key Responsibilities1. Deal Structuring & Advisory
- Tax-Efficient Architecture: Architect and implement investment structures (SPVs, LLPs, or Trusts) specifically for cross-border real estate transactions.
- Financial Proformas: Prepare comprehensive financial proformas for real estate deal structures, explicitly detailing and forecasting returns for both Indian and U.S. investors.
- Pre-Launch Validation: Assist with the financial modeling and quantitative analysis relating to new entity formations before a real estate deal goes live.
- DTAA Optimization: Evaluate the impact of the U.S.-India Double Taxation Avoidance Agreement (DTAA) to minimize tax leakage.
2. Fund Operations, Treasury & Budgeting
- Fund Administration: Oversee fund accounting for private equity-style real estate vehicles, including Net Asset Value (NAV) calculations, capital calls, and distributions.
- Waterfall Modeling & Payouts: Design and manage distribution waterfalls to ensure accurate profit sharing between investors and sponsors. Ensure all investor payouts are executed seamlessly and on time.
- Treasury & Capital Deployment: Evaluate low-risk investment options for surplus funds to maximize yield, and maintain a meticulous track record of these active investments.
- Budgetary Control: Track, analyze, and update the company's marketing budget on a monthly basis, ensuring strict adherence to financial forecasts.
- Audit Management: Act as the primary point of contact for external auditors for both Indian and U.S. entities.
3. Regulatory Compliance (India & U.S.)
- FEMA & RBI: Lead all FEMA compliances, focusing heavily on Outward Direct Investment (ODI) and the Liberalised Remittance Scheme (LRS).
- SEC & SEBI: Collaborate with U.S. and Indian legal counsel to ensure offerings align with SEC regulations (Reg D/Reg S) and relevant SEBI guidelines.
4. Taxation & Reporting
- U.S. & Indian Tax Filings: Lead the preparation and filing of U.S. corporate tax returns, including the annual filing of Form 1040 along with all other applicable cross-border tax forms and schedules.
- Investor Documentation: Streamline the issuance of U.S. tax forms (Schedule K-1, Form 1042-S) and Indian tax certificates.
5. High-Precision Accounting & Automation
- ERPNext Automation: Maintain and optimize the ERPNext Accounting system (or equivalent). Drive end-to-end automation of manual tasks, establishing a seamless workflow right from posting journal entries to the final automated issuance of relevant tax forms to Indian investors.
- Multi-Currency Bookkeeping: Oversee multi-currency transactions and manage a dual-jurisdiction chart of accounts.
- Leadership: Supervise junior team members in day-to-day bookkeeping, payroll, and expense management to ensure zero-error accounting.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Certification: Qualified Chartered Accountant (CA) from the ICAI.
- Additional Credentials: CPA (US) or Enrolled Agent (EA) status is highly preferred and will be given significant weight.
- Experience: 2-5 years of post-qualification experience in fund accounting, cross-border taxation, or real estate corporate finance.
- Core Knowledge: Expertise in FEMA regulations and Indian Securities Laws.
- Strong understanding of Fund Accounting principles (Capital Accounts, NAV, Waterfalls).
- Familiarity with US GAAP and IRS tax codes (including individual, corporate, and partnership taxation).
- Tech Stack: Advanced proficiency in Excel (financial modeling), QuickBooks Online.
