Job Description

The Opportunity

StaffRight Associates has partnered with a premier transit infrastructure innovator to identify a high-caliber engineering leader for a direct-placement opportunity based out of Vancouver, BC.

In this remote-first capacity, you will act as the principal engineering authority for vital rail and transit developments across British Columbia. This critical role empowers you to steer complex systems design, manage crucial stakeholder interfaces, and uphold public safety standards, all while driving high-impact regional transportation initiatives forward.

What You’ll Do

  • Champion the role of Engineer of Record for regional transit and rail infrastructure projects, ensuring absolute alignment with provincial codes and statutory mandates.

  • Direct all regulated engineering work as the officially designated Responsible Registrant in British Columbia, actively maintaining and implementing the Professional Practice Management Plan.

  • Architect comprehensive system designs in close alignment with technical leadership, fostering innovation and technical excellence across complex transit frameworks.

  • Synthesize complex project parameters by establishing and tracking end-to-end Requirements Traceability from initial design through to eventual verification and validation.

  • Govern the lifecycle of engineering documentation, ensuring strict adherence to global Engineering Quality Management protocols and operational best practices.

  • Command technical interfaces and design discussions with municipal authorities, clients, and external stakeholders as the primary engineering point of contact.

  • Drive technical execution across the entire project lifecycle—spanning conceptualization, physical construction, and site commissioning—combining remote oversight with targeted on-site inspections.

  • Integrate specialized design principles covering Reliability, Availability, Maintainability, general safety protocols, and operational security frameworks.

  • Execute hands-on field evaluations and safety audits to confirm that on-site builds match engineering blueprints and safety benchmarks.

  • Validate engineering outputs, cost projections, and bidding materials with your official professional seal.

What You Bring

  • Location Requirement: Must reside within a maximum one-hour commute of Vancouver, BC, to facilitate site visits and field inspections.

  • Professional Engineer status in British Columbia (active P.Eng. registration).

  • Deep senior-level expertise in Rail And Transit Systems Design, system commissioning, and Verification And Validation methodologies.

  • Advanced proficiency with transit-oriented Public Address Systems and Passenger Information Signage Systems.

  • Comprehensive technical background in transit-specific Telephony Systems.

  • Familiarity with Closed-Circuit Television networks and Automated Passenger-Counting Systems (highly preferred).

  • Demonstrated experience with Life Safety Systems and partnering with Authorities Having Jurisdiction to draft integrated Fire Response Planning initiatives (highly preferred).

  • Superb communication and negotiation skills to align diverse engineering teams, clients, and regulatory bodies.

  • A proactive, solution-focused mindset capable of balancing multiple project interfaces under tight deadlines.

Compensation & Total Rewards

  • Annual Salary: $105,000 to $150,000 CAD (commensurate with experience)

  • Employment Type: Direct Placement (Full-Time)

  • Work Arrangement: Remote (Candidate must reside within a 1-hour commute of Vancouver, BC)
