Job Description

Boiler Tube Company of America is seeking a skilled Machinist to set up and operate manual and CNC machine tools to fabricate, modify, and repair components used in the manufacturing of pressure parts, boiler components, and related equipment. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical aptitude, be committed to safety and quality, and work effectively in a team-oriented manufacturing environment.

  • Advanced- Set up and operate lathes, mills, drill presses, grinders, and other machine tools.
  • Notifies the CNC Programmer of problems with equipment or tooling that may cause defects.
  • Has Basic Knowledge of GDT and Blueprints.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and work orders.
  • Lead, Coach, Train and assist other CNC operators in daily tasks.
  • Problem solves any issues that affect efficient production; recommends process improvements.
  • Takes corrective action to bring units into specification.
  • Measure and inspect parts using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
  • Manual Lay-out Parts in Prep for Machining.
  • Verifies correct tools and Program are loaded against tool set-up sheet.
  • Set up and operate machines to perform first piece inspection.
  • Machine parts to required tolerances and specifications.
  • Perform routine machine maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Verify dimensions and quality of finished products.
  • Work closely with welders, fabricators, and quality personnel to meet production schedules.
  • Follow all company safety procedures and OSHA requirements.
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas in accordance with 5S principles.
  • Assist with continuous improvement initiatives to improve efficiency, quality, and safety.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Technical training in machining or equivalent experience is preferred.
  • 3+ years of machining experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Proficient in the use of precision measuring tools.
  • Experience with CNC programming a must and manual operation is a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
