Quick Overview
Job Description
Marketing Manager
Oxfordshire Predominantly home-based with flexible working (must be able to commute to Oxford as needed) Permanent, full-time
Salary: up to £55,000 DOE
The Company
Robert Half is proud to be working exclusively with Rock Management Services (Rock MS), based in Kidlington, Oxfordshire, to recruit a Marketing Manager to lead their marketing function.
Rock MS provides outsourced business support to organisations, predominantly within the legal sector, covering marketing, HR, IT, finance, practice management and compliance, so clients can stay lean and focused on their core business. Led by Managing Director Judy Matthews, Rock MS supports a portfolio of clients, most notably Reeds Solicitors, a top-tier UK law firm with 300 staff across 22 offices, and has also developed its own Case and Practice Management solution, Bedrock.
Rock MS's marketing services span website development, social media strategy, SEO, and legal directory submissions such as Legal 500 and Chambers & Partners, helping clients strengthen their online presence and convert enquiries into clients.
The Role
We are looking for an ambitious, commercially minded Marketing Manager with strong technical knowledge of websites, SEO and digital marketing. This is a hands-on role for someone who can develop and execute marketing strategy while also understanding what happens under the bonnet of a website - comfortable working with developers, agencies and senior stakeholders, but equally happy in Google Search Console, GA4, CMS platforms and technical SEO audits.
It's a genuinely unique position: you'll lead marketing not just for Rock MS itself, but for a portfolio of its clients, predominantly within the legal sector, including Reeds Solicitors - wearing multiple hats across different brands, campaigns and priorities, which could suit someone with an agency background. You'll lead a small team, including a Content Marketer and Social Media Assistant, and work closely with consultants across the portfolio.
Responsibilities
- Own the development and delivery of digital marketing strategy for Rock MS, Bedrock, Reeds Solicitors and other clients
- Lead integrated marketing campaigns across digital and offline channels, managing budgets and demonstrating clear ROI
- Identify opportunities to increase brand awareness, website traffic, leads and customer acquisition
- Own website content, structure, navigation and user journeys from a marketing and performance perspective
- Own SEO strategy and execution across the portfolio, including on-page optimisation, technical SEO, keyword research and content strategy
- Monitor and report on SEO and digital performance using analytics tools, translating data into actionable recommendations
- Work with developers on website improvements, using a working understanding of HTML, CSS and basic JavaScript to diagnose issues
- Manage CMS platforms such as WordPress or Shopify, and conduct regular technical SEO audits
- Optimise page titles, meta descriptions, headings, internal linking and content structure
- Manage and develop a small team, and work closely with consultants supporting the wider function
- Oversee email marketing campaigns, supplier relationships (PR, web design, PPC) and directory/award submissions
- Maintain brand consistency across all marketing materials and client-facing output across multiple brands
About You
- Proven experience in a marketing manager or senior marketing executive role, ideally within professional services, legal or a B2B environment
- Organised and commercially focused, but also technically curious, analytical, proactive, hands-on and creative
- Strong, hands-on SEO expertise, including technical SEO, on-page optimisation, keyword strategy and use of SEO tools, with a track record of improving organic performance
- Confident working with data and digital analytics to measure and improve campaign and SEO performance
- Experience managing multi-channel campaigns and email marketing via CRM or marketing automation tools
- Good understanding of HTML and CSS
- Excellent project management skills, confident managing external suppliers and senior stakeholders
- A degree in marketing, business or a related field, or CIM qualification, or equivalent demonstrable experience
Desirable
- Experience in legal sector marketing, including familiarity with Legal 500 or Chambers directory submissions
- Experience mentoring or overseeing junior team members
- Knowledge of paid media (PPC and paid social), and familiarity with design tools such as Canva or Adobe Creative Suite
In summary: a commercially driven Marketing Manager who understands websites deeply, knows SEO inside out, and can turn digital activity into measurable growth.
What's on Offer
- Salary up to £55,000, depending on experience
- Predominantly home-based working, with flexible schemes including compressed 4 day weeks, 9 day fortnights, TOIL and other hybrid options
- Permanent, full-time role with genuine influence over marketing strategy, and a varied client portfolio spanning multiple brands within the legal sector
- 25 days holiday plus bank holidays, rising to 30 days with service, plus the option to purchase up to 5 additional days
- Additional paid celebration day, plus discretionary days off at Christmas
- Enhanced family friendly policies
- Private medical healthcare, with the option to add optical and dental cover
- Discounted gym membership and cycle to work scheme
- A strong focus on wellbeing, including an employee assistance programme, free online counselling, mini health checks and wellbeing webinars
- Ongoing training and development, and a culture built on respect and encouragement to bring forward new ideas
