Job Description

Job Title: Oracle DBA
Location: New York, NY, USA
Duration: 8 Months + Extension
Bill Rate: $80/hr
Job Type: c2c/1099 Contract
Client: To Be Discussed Later
Work Authorization: US-Citizen, H-1B, OPT-EAD, GC-EAD

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, maintain, and optimize Microsoft SQL Server and Azure Managed Instance databases.
  • Perform SQL Server/database installations, upgrades, migrations, and configuration.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure teams on regular database and server patching.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues.
  • Implement and maintain database security and compliance standards.
  • Perform SQL performance tuning and query optimization.
  • Develop and maintain backup, restore, and disaster recovery strategies.
  • Support application development teams with database requirements and solutions.
  • Implement and maintain High Availability / Always On solutions.
  • Develop database automation using scripting and programming languages.
  • Maintain database procedures, standards, best practices, and technical documentation.
  • Provide technical direction and guidance to junior team members.
  • Perform additional database administration duties as assigned.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience as a SQL Server Database Administrator.
  • 8+ years of experience installing, maintaining, administering, and supporting database technologies, operating systems, and related infrastructure.
  • Strong expertise in Microsoft SQL Server, Windows Server, Azure, and Azure SQL Managed Instance.
  • Strong knowledge of Azure Storage Accounts and Azure security fundamentals.
  • Extensive experience with SQL Server Always On / High Availability.
  • Strong SQL knowledge, including performance tuning and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with database backup, recovery, migration, installation, and upgrades.
  • Experience with shell scripting and database automation.
  • Knowledge of Python is preferred.
  • Experience supporting UNIX, Linux, and Windows environments.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to design and engineer database solutions and technical standards.
  • Ability to provide advanced technical guidance to less senior staff.

Education & Certifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Microsoft technology certifications are preferred.
