Title: Manufacturing SCADA Engineer AVEVA/Wonderware

Location: North Carolina Remote
Travel: Approximately 1 day per month
Job Type: Contract

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Manufacturing SCADA Engineer with strong hands-on expertise in AVEVA/Wonderware solutions to support and enhance industrial automation and manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in SCADA development, industrial controls, HMI systems, and manufacturing environments.

This role will be responsible for designing, developing, configuring, integrating, troubleshooting, and supporting SCADA applications used in manufacturing operations. The engineer will work closely with controls, automation, IT/OT, manufacturing, and engineering teams to deliver reliable and scalable plant-floor solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, configure, and maintain SCADA/HMI applications using AVEVA/Wonderware platforms.
  • Develop and maintain Wonderware System Platform, InTouch, and related SCADA components.
  • Configure SCADA tags, graphics, alarms, trends, scripts, security, and user interfaces.
  • Develop and maintain industrial automation and visualization solutions for manufacturing operations.
  • Integrate SCADA systems with PLCs, historians, databases, MES, and other plant-floor systems.
  • Troubleshoot SCADA applications, communication issues, alarms, and system performance problems.
  • Support system upgrades, migrations, enhancements, and new manufacturing implementations.
  • Work with PLC/controls engineers to troubleshoot communication and automation issues.
  • Develop and maintain interfaces between SCADA systems and SQL Server or other databases.
  • Configure and support industrial communication protocols and connectivity.
  • Participate in testing, validation, deployment, and production support activities.
  • Develop technical documentation, system specifications, configuration documents, and operating procedures.
  • Follow manufacturing OT cybersecurity, change management, backup, and system reliability practices.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, engineering, controls, IT, and operations teams to identify and resolve plant-floor issues.
  • Provide remote support with occasional onsite travel to North Carolina manufacturing facilities.

Required Skills

  • Strong hands-on experience with AVEVA/Wonderware SCADA platforms.
  • Experience with Wonderware System Platform and/or AVEVA System Platform.
  • Strong experience with Wonderware InTouch / AVEVA InTouch.
  • Experience developing SCADA/HMI applications in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Strong understanding of SCADA architecture, PLC integration, alarms, historian, and HMI development.
  • Experience with SQL Server / SQL databases.
  • Experience troubleshooting industrial communication and integration issues.
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes and industrial automation.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with AVEVA Historian / Wonderware Historian.
  • Experience with AVEVA MES or manufacturing execution systems.
  • Experience integrating SCADA with MES, ERP, or enterprise applications.
  • Experience with PLC platforms such as Rockwell/Allen-Bradley or Siemens.
  • Knowledge of OPC DA/UA, Modbus, Ethernet/IP, or similar industrial communication protocols.
  • Experience with Industrial IoT / IIoT technologies.
  • Knowledge of OT/ICS cybersecurity and industrial network architecture.
  • Experience with SCADA modernization, migration, or system upgrades.
  • Experience with virtualization and Windows Server environments.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in SCADA, automation, controls, or industrial software engineering.
  • Strong experience specifically with AVEVA/Wonderware environments.
