SAP API/ODATA BTP Consultant

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled SAP API/ODATA BTP Consultant with strong expertise in SAP integration technologies, API development, and SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP). The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, securing, and supporting APIs and OData services to enable seamless integration between SAP and non-SAP applications. The consultant will work closely with functional teams, solution architects, and business stakeholders to deliver scalable, secure, and high-performance integration solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain REST APIs and OData services on SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP).
• Develop and enhance OData services using SAP Gateway and ABAP.
• Build and deploy applications using SAP BTP services and Cloud Foundry.
• Develop APIs using CAP (Cloud Application Programming Model) and Node.js or Java, where applicable.
• Integrate SAP S/4HANA, SAP SuccessFactors, SAP Ariba, SAP IBP, SAP Concur, and other SAP solutions with third-party applications.
• Configure and develop integrations using SAP Integration Suite (Cloud Integration/CPI, API Management, Open Connectors, and Event Mesh).
• Implement API security using OAuth 2.0, JWT, API Keys, Basic Authentication, and Principal Propagation.
• Create and maintain API documentation using OpenAPI (Swagger).
• Optimize API performance, scalability, and reliability.
• Troubleshoot API, integration, and connectivity issues across SAP and external systems.
• Perform unit testing, integration testing, and support User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
• Collaborate with solution architects and business teams to gather and analyze integration requirements.
• Follow SAP best practices for API governance, monitoring, and lifecycle management.
• Provide production support and resolve integration-related incidents.

Required Skills

• Strong experience with SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP).
• Hands-on experience in developing REST APIs and OData services.
• Expertise in SAP Gateway and OData Service development.
• Experience with SAP Integration Suite (Cloud Integration/CPI and API Management).
• Knowledge of CAP (Cloud Application Programming Model).
• Experience with Node.js and/or Java development.
• Understanding of SAP S/4HANA APIs and Business APIs.
• Knowledge of JSON, XML, REST, SOAP, HTTP/HTTPS, and Web Services.
• Experience with API authentication and security protocols (OAuth 2.0, JWT, SAML).
• Familiarity with SAP Cloud Foundry environment.
• Experience using Git and CI/CD pipelines.
• Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and performance tuning skills.
• Understanding of integration patterns and enterprise architecture.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with SAP Event Mesh.
• Knowledge of SAP Build Process Automation and SAP Build Apps.
• Experience with SAP Fiori and SAPUI5.
• Familiarity with SAP SuccessFactors, Ariba, IBP, MDG, or other SAP cloud applications.
• Knowledge of Kubernetes, Docker, and DevOps practices.
• Exposure to SAP AI Core and Generative AI services on SAP BTP is an advantage.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 5 10+ years of SAP technical experience.
• Minimum 3+ years of hands-on experience with SAP BTP and API development.
• SAP BTP or SAP Integration Suite certification is preferred.
