About the roleAs our IT Strategy & Architecture Manager, you will play a pivotal role in shaping Officeworks's technology future by developing and driving our technology strategy, and our enterprise technology roadmap.
Leading a team of architects across Enterprise, Solution, Data, Infrastructure and Cloud domains, you'll ensure technology investments and initiatives align to business priorities, support long-term growth, and deliver measurable business value.
This is a highly influential leadership role requiring a strategic thinker who can engage confidently with executive stakeholders, translate business objectives into technology direction, and provide clear guidance on technology opportunities, risks and trade-offs. The role is focused on strategic planning, roadmap development, executive engagement and technology risk management, as well as architectural governance and leadership.
As the IT Strategy & Architecture Manager, you will own the enterprise technology strategy and multi-year technology roadmap that enables Officeworks's business strategy and transformation goals.
You will work closely with executive leaders across Technology and the broader business to assess emerging technologies, identify opportunities and risks, prioritise strategic investments, and ensure technology decisions are aligned to long-term organisational objectives.
Leading a multidisciplinary architecture team, you'll also provide governance and oversight across key technology initiatives, ensuring solutions are scalable, secure, commercially sound and aligned with strategic direction.
You will act as a trusted advisor to senior executives, helping them understand the implications of technology decisions, investment priorities and technology risks while creating a clear and actionable roadmap for the future.
What You'll Be Doing- Develop, maintain and communicate Officeworks' enterprise technology strategy and multi-year technology roadmap.
- Lead technology risk assessment and planning activities, ensuring risks are identified, understood and actively managed across the technology landscape.
- Partner with executive leaders to align technology priorities and investments with business strategy and organisational goals.
- Provide strategic advice to senior stakeholders on technology trends, opportunities, risks and emerging capabilities.
- Lead, coach and develop a high-performing team of architects across Enterprise, Solution, Data, Infrastructure and Cloud Architecture disciplines.
- Champion architecture, data, risk and technology governance across the organisation.
- Ensure major technology initiatives align with strategic priorities, architecture principles and technology roadmaps.
- Lead the Architecture Review Board, providing governance and oversight for key technology decisions and investments.
- Drive enterprise-wide architectural consistency, ensuring solutions are scalable, sustainable, secure and commercially viable.
- Foster a collaborative architecture practice that enables informed decision-making and supports business transformation.
You're a strategic technology leader with a strong ability to operate at both executive and technical levels. You are comfortable discussing technology strategy, investment priorities, enterprise risk and future-state roadmaps with senior executives, while also providing leadership and direction to architecture teams.
- Extensive experience developing and executing enterprise technology strategies and multi-year technology roadmaps within a large and complex organisation.
- Experience identifying, assessing and managing technology risk.
- Strong background as a Principal Architect, Enterprise Architect, Head of Architecture, or similar strategic technology leadership role.
- Exceptional executive communication, storytelling and influencing skills, with the ability to translate complex technology concepts into clear business outcomes.
- Experience partnering with C-suite and senior business leaders to shape technology investment decisions and strategic direction.
- Demonstrated experience leading architecture governance forums, strategy reviews or architecture review boards.
- Experience leading and developing multidisciplinary architecture teams.
- Strong commercial acumen and the ability to balance innovation, risk, cost and business outcomes.
- Experience within retail or another large, customer focused and fast paced organisation will be highly regarded.
