Key Activities and Responsibilities

• Plan the design, coding, testing, integration and documentation of allocated software tasks.
• Manage milestone delivery and reporting.
• Estimate task effort and milestones.
• Weekly reporting of project status to Project Management.
• Achieve project software milestones within approved budgets.
• Ensure software engineering activities adhere to Thales Quality Assurance standards and procedures using appropriate tools.
• Lead in developing Agile and Lean development practices for software development.
• Undertake critical software architectural design and component reviews.
• Liaise with customers to discuss new software tasks and assist in creating Operational Analysis Documents.
• Ensure adequate preliminary testing of all software tasks before integration to minimise later problems.
• Investigate and use new technologies where relevant.

Key Knowledge and Experience

• Task and schedule management of a software team - 3+ years.
• Experience with various software methodologies (Waterfall, Agile, etc.) - 3+ years.
• Proficiency in programming languages: C, C++, Java, JavaFX - 2+ years.
• Design using UML - 2+ years.
• Documentation of SDD, SRS, STDs, etc. - 2+ years.
• System engineering lifecycle experience in defence/commercial areas.
• Experience with continuous build, integration and test software development environments.
• Experience working in Linux and Windows.
• Experience integrating large projects is desirable.
• Experience in open systems.
• Fast learner able to apply skills quickly.
• High level planning and time management skills.
• Ability to write clear, concise documents containing technical detail.

Applicants must be Australian citizens and be eligible to obtain necessary security clearance. Prior to employment, you will need to complete pre employment police and role dependent medical checks.
