Key Responsibilities

  • Provide hands-on technical leadership across frontend development using React, TypeScript, Node.js and Material UI.
  • Coordinate engineering workload and help the team deliver against the product roadmap.
  • Define and maintain engineering standards covering architecture, code quality, testing, performance and accessibility.
  • Lead code reviews and technical design discussions for scalable, high-performance solutions.
  • Mentor and coach developers, raising technical capability across the team.
  • Work closely with the Delivery Manager and key stakeholders to manage technical priorities, risks and dependencies.
  • Drive continuous improvement across engineering processes, tooling and development practices.
  • Support production systems and participate in an on-call rota during peak trading periods.

Core Technologies

React; TypeScript; Node.js; Material UI; Next.js

Key Requirements

  • Extensive commercial experience with React and TypeScript.
  • Strong Node.js experience supporting high-performance, customer-facing web applications.
  • Previous technical leadership experience, including setting standards, reviewing code and leading technical delivery.
  • Strong understanding of frontend architecture, responsive design and UI performance optimisation.
  • Experience delivering complex features whilst remaining hands-on in development.
  • Ability to influence both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proven experience mentoring developers and improving engineering capability.
  • Experience working on large-scale eCommerce or other high-traffic public-facing platforms is highly desirable.

Desirable Experience

  • Next.js.
  • Micro Frontends.
  • Service-oriented architecture.
  • Microsoft Azure.
  • Web accessibility and inclusive design.
  • Agile delivery environments.

What's on Offer

  • Salary of £63,825 - £72,618.
  • Annual bonus of 10-12%.
  • Relocation support may be available.
  • Opportunity to influence the technical direction of a high-traffic platform serving millions of customers.
  • Modern technology stack with a collaborative engineering culture focused on continuous improvement.
