Job Description

Quality Engineer (SFIA 5) Contract Duration: 6 months Rate: £460 per day Inside IR35 Location: At least 2x per month in Telford Overview We are seeking an experienced Quality Engineer to join the CoreMod Programme, a major transformation initiative focused on modernising HMRC's tax administration systems.

You will work within agile Scrum teams of 4-8 engineers, delivering high-quality solutions through two-week sprint cycles across a diverse and modern technology landscape.

This is an excellent opportunity for a quality-focused engineer who is passionate about automation, continuous improvement, and embedding quality throughout the software development lifecycle.

Technology Stack Frontend Remix React<br />JavaScriptBackend Java<br />Spring Framework<br />.NETData MongoDB<br />OracleTools &amp; Integration RabbitMQ<br />JSON Key Responsibilities Design, build and implement automated testing solutions from the ground up.<br />Develop and execute test strategies using TDD, BDD and risk-based testing approaches.<br />Champion shift-left testing practices and support CI/CD pipeline integration.<br />Coach and mentor development teams on Quality Engineering best practices.<br />Perform testing across all levels, including:<br />Unit Testing<br />System Testing<br />Integration Testing<br />Non-Functional Testing<br />Analyse business requirements and translate them into effective test approaches.<br />Create, manage and maintain test data and testing artefacts.<br />Collaborate closely with developers through pair programming and agile delivery practices.<br />Support defect analysis, root cause investigation and quality improvement initiatives.

Essential Technical Capabilities Candidates must be able to demonstrate: Ability to read, understand and interpret Java unit tests (e.g.

JUnit) written by developers to support test analysis and defect investigation.<br />Experience designing and developing automated end-to-end and system tests using Playwright with Java.<br />Strong capability in developing and maintaining automated test frameworks and scripts in Java across:<br />UI Testing<br />API Testing<br />System-Level TestingRequired Skills &amp; Experience Proven experience in Quality Engineering and software testing.<br />Strong understanding of automated testing principles and frameworks.<br />Experience working with CI/CD pipelines.<br />Proficiency with Git and GitLab.<br />Knowledge of Agile and Scrum delivery methodologies.<br />Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.<br />Experience coaching and mentoring team members.<br />Quality-focused mindset with a continuous improvement approach.<br />Ability to work effectively within cross-functional delivery teams.
