Job Description

The Technical Services Engineer (MECM) is responsible for the administration and day to day support of Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager within a Defence ICT environment. Working as part of the Platform Enablement team, the successful candidate will contribute to endpoint management operations, support service delivery, and develop their technical capability in a structured and secure setting. The role works collaboratively with senior engineers, leveraging guidance and mentorship to build technical knowledge and resolve complex issues.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer and support MECM/SCCM infrastructure in an enterprise Defence environment
  • Assist in the build and support of Operating System Deployment (OSD) task sequences, including troubleshooting deployments across high latency and satellite connected sites
  • Manage software packaging, deployment, and patch compliance through SUP/WSUS integration
  • Monitor and remediate client health, maintaining endpoint compliance across a distributed environment
  • Assist with boundary and boundary group management under direction from senior engineers
  • Work collaboratively with senior engineers, leveraging guidance and mentorship to build technical capability and resolve complex issues
  • Escalate complex technical issues to Level 3 engineers where required
  • Contribute to documentation including runbooks, standard operating procedures, and change records
  • Participate in change management processes in accordance with Defence ICT standards
Skills and Experience
  • MECM/SCCM administration
  • Windows Server (2016/2019/2022) and Active Directory
  • PowerShell scripting for automation and reporting
  • WSUS management and software update compliance
  • PKI and certificate management in the context of MECM (HTTPS mode, CMG)
  • Networking fundamentals (DHCP, DNS, boundary management)
  • Experience working in a Defence or high security ICT environment
  • Must hold or be eligible for an Australian Government security clearance (NV2 minimum)
