Systems Security Engineer

Description

We are looking for a Systems Security Engineer to strengthen and secure enterprise infrastructure for a respected financial institution in San Antonio, Texas. This position blends hands-on systems administration with a strong security focus, making it well suited for someone who can protect Windows-based environments while advancing consistent controls across the organization. The individual in this role will help elevate the company's security posture through practical hardening measures, policy enforcement, and close collaboration with technical and business stakeholders.

Responsibilities

Build, deploy, and support secure infrastructure solutions across both on-premises systems and cloud-based platforms. Manage and enhance Microsoft security and identity tools, including Intune, Entra ID, Defender, Active Directory, and Group Policy, to improve control and visibility. Define and apply security configuration standards that align with recognized benchmarks and enterprise best practices. Drive initiatives related to server hardening, patching, vulnerability resolution, and ongoing configuration oversight.

Create and maintain endpoint protection standards and device compliance rules to support a secure user environment. Review security alerts, examine potential threats, and coordinate timely corrective actions with the appropriate teams. Partner with infrastructure, networking, and IT leadership to promote standardized security processes and technology practices. Provide administration and support for core Windows Server services and related enterprise infrastructure components. Contribute to audits, risk reviews, and compliance activities associated with regulated financial environments.

Requirements

At least 5 years of experience in systems engineering, infrastructure engineering, or information security roles. Practical expertise with Microsoft Intune, Microsoft Entra ID, Microsoft Defender, Active Directory, and Group Policy in enterprise environments. Strong working knowledge of Windows Server administration and security controls for large-scale environments. Experience applying security baselines, hardening guidelines, and established cybersecurity standards. Background in vulnerability management, endpoint security, identity protection, and incident investigation.

Familiarity with Windows 10 administration and broader Microsoft ecosystem tools used in enterprise support. Exposure to technologies such as Dell and Citrix within infrastructure or end-user computing environments is beneficial. Prior experience in banking, financial services, or another highly regulated industry is strongly preferred.
