  • The candidate will need to come on-site on the first day to collect equipment.  Probably first week to get brought up to speed and process in
  • All candidates must be local to the Triangle region of North Carolina.  
  • This position may require on site attendance when business needs warrant in person participation, such as scheduled meetings or other task specific activities. 

**STATEWIDE TRAVEL REQUIRED** As a contractor the selected candidate will have to use their own vehicle; state vehicles are not permitted to be driven by contractors.

NCDIT-Transportation (NCDIT-T) Infrastructure Team is seeking a Cloud Engineer - Expert that will support the ongoing DMV NCMAX Cloud infrastructure build.

The primary focus is to help NCDIT-T understand the architecture and be a bridge between NCDIT-T and the vendors with their knowledge of Cloud infrastructure networking, storage and security.

The complexity of these responsibilities are essential to NCDIT-T to support the building of the Azure tenant from scratch so that DMV systems can be placed in the cloud. NCDIT-T and DMV have an aggressive schedule to get this done to support the DMV modernization efforts.

Role/Responsibilities:

  • responsible for designing and developing software solutions for cloud-based operating systems
  • builds and maintains infrastructure as code (IaC) using DevOps methodology and versioning with a descriptive model to define and deploy infrastructure, such as networks, virtual machines, load balancers, and connection topologies.
  • providing a reliable and scalable platform for developers to build and deploy applications
  • responsible for designing, implementing, and managing the cloud network infrastructure including the deployment and configuration of cloud-based network solutions to ensure high performance, reliability, and security

Required Skills:

Thorough knowledge of DevOps principles and practices and tools

Thorough knowledge of cloud infrastructure best practices, including security, scalability, and performance optimization

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Desired Skills:

knowledge of cloud platforms such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (Google Cloud Platform)
