About the Role
Are you an experienced Data Engineer with a passion for DataOps, automation, and platform engineering? We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer to help build, automate, and support cutting-edge enterprise data platforms across Azure, SQL Server, and Snowflake ecosystems.
In this pivotal 6-month contract, you will drive data onboarding, migration, and automation initiatives. Your work will directly contribute to operational excellence, scalable data solutions, and the empowerment of self-service capabilities across the business.
What You Will Be Doing
Pipeline Engineering: Design and develop robust data ingestion, transformation, and migration solutions utilizing Azure Data Factory (ADF).
ETL/ELT Development: Build and maintain seamless pipelines across SQL Server, Azure Data Lake Storage (ADLS), and Snowflake ecosystems.
Automation & Frameworks: Build reusable frameworks for data onboarding, schema deployment, and validation. Automate operational processes using SQL, Python, or PowerShell.
Database Administration: Administer and manage SQL Server environments hosted on Azure VMs, handling security, backup/recovery, performance tuning, and access management.
Platform Modernization: Support database migrations, system upgrades, and platform modernization initiatives.
Governance & Security: Implement data quality controls, governance standards, audit logging, and security best practices.
Collaboration: Work closely with business and technology teams to deliver highly scalable, reliable data solutions and improve overall DataOps efficiency.
What We Are Looking For (Essential Skills)
To be successful in this role, you must have strong hands-on experience in the following areas:
Core Technologies: Azure Data Factory (ADF), Azure Data Lake (ADLS), Azure SQL, and core ETL concepts.
SQL Server Mastery: Advanced SQL Server development and administration skills, including hands-on experience managing SQL Server on Azure Virtual Machines.
Database Expertise: Proven track record in database migration, performance tuning, backup/recovery, and security implementation.
Scripting & Automation: Strong scripting abilities in SQL, Python, and/or PowerShell.
Data Formats: Experience working with structured and semi-structured data formats (CSV, JSON, XML, Parquet, MDF, BAK).
Problem Solving: Exceptional troubleshooting, automation, and analytical capabilities.
