Quality Assurance Analyst

Roles/Responsibilities:

• The ability to be proactive in identifying potential issues early in the development lifecycle rather than reactively finding them later.
• Proficiency in translating high-level business and functional requirements into detailed, efficient, and comprehensive test cases.
• The technical skill to design, implement, and improve custom, enterprise-wide, and reusable automation frameworks.
• Competency with test management tools (Zephyr Scale, GitLab, etc.) for logging bugs and tracking test progress.
• Attends meetings and training as required.
• Meticulous attention to detail is critical.
• The ability to work effectively within cross-functional teams
• Excellent debugging and problem-solving skills

Mandatory Skills:

1. Strong foundational knowledge of manual testing principles, including test case design, types of testing (functional, regression, API, performance), and defect management.
2. The technical skill to write, run, and maintain automated test scripts (Playwright, TypeScript, Java, k6, MCP, AI-assisted testing, and others).
3. Proficiency in using developer tools, reading error logs, and tracing the source of an issue to provide detailed information to developers (Google DevTools, application logs, HTTP requests/responses, stack traces, heap dumps, etc.).
4. Knowledge of industry-wide quality assurance measures, testing standards, and current best practices.
5. Knowledge of identifying potential quality risks, assessing their impact and likelihood, and formulating effective mitigation strategies.
6. Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with software engineers, system personnel, and management.
7. Extensive knowledge of various test automation tools and framework architectures (data-driven, keyword-driven, hybrid, BDD).
8. The ability to adapt to new challenges, pivot strategies when data suggests a different path, and remain resilient in the face of setbacks is key to long-term success.
9. Excellent debugging and problem-solving skills.
10. The practical skill of integrating automated tests with various systems like version control, CI/CD pipelines, and test management tools.
11. Knowledge of various database systems, including relational databases and NoSQL databases.
12. Experience with specialized test data management and data governance platforms.
13. The ability to analyze test requirements and profile existing production data.
14. A deep understanding of core testing principles is paramount, including test case design techniques (boundary value analysis, equivalence partitioning), defect lifecycles, and how testing integrates into various methodologies.
15. The technical skill to design realistic performance test scenarios, which involves scripting user journeys, parameterizing data, and creating load models
16. Proficiency in one or more programming or scripting languages.

22. QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree and three years of relevant quality assurance/automated testing experience; or three years of experience as a Business Analyst or Software Engineer in the Colorado Judicial Department. OR Three years of relevant quality assurance/automated testing experience; or three years of experience as a Business Analyst or Software Engineer within the Colorado Judicial Department. Additional work experience in these or other related fields may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required formal education.
