Talent Space, Inc. is seeking a Mechanical Engineer for a contract opportunity in Sunnyvale, CA!
Mechanical Engineer is responsible for the end-to-end mechanical design of rack-mounted networking products, from initial concept through release to manufacturing (RTM). The ideal candidate is hands-on, with experience not only in product design but also in leading design reviews, creating bills of materials (BOMs), validating prototypes, managing engineering change orders (ECOs), and guiding products through regulatory compliance training.
Demonstrate the ability to initiate and advise on innovative, original technical initiatives.
- Evaluate and integrate emerging technologies in area such as cooling, interconnects, and related systems to shape future solutions.
- Define project scope and resource requirements for new product development; track deliverables and resolve cross-functional challenges.
- Lead key technical content of system and unit-level specifications.
- Establish and communicate a clear technical direction for projects.
- Review plans and develop detailed specifications for assigned areas.
- Identify risks, dependencies, and technical gaps, and recommend effective solutions or improvements.
Education:
BSME or equivalent with 5+ years relevant experience in electro-mechanical design with a concentration in either networking or storage or server products.
Preferred: MSME or equivalent Qualifications:
- Current use of 3D solid modeling software, SolidWorks preferred, working knowledge of EPDM a plus.
- Capable of Tolerance Analysis on complex systems and possess working knowledge of GD&T and FEA.
- Experience with IDF & ECAD-MCAD transfer process is preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of sheet metal design and manufacturing processes for low and mid volume production.
- Strong understanding of hard tooling requirements for plastic, aluminum extrusions, and aluminum die cast.
- Demonstrated understanding of thermal design and thermal profiling, with the ability to manage external resources to deliver effective thermal solutions.
- Demonstrated knowledge of advanced cooling technologies, including liquid cooling systems.
- Good understanding of NEBS standards, EMI/EMC considerations, Safety requirements, and other product-specific regulatory compliance standards.
- Capable of developing & maintaining product development schedules
- Excellent communication skills, including cross-functional skills
- Experienced in estimating and managing part costs, hard tooling, and internal and external resources to support and maintain project budgets.
- Good understanding of overall product development
