Procurement Manager - Major Projects

Location: Gloucestershire - Hybrid

Salary: £50,000 - £62,000 + Bonus & Benefits

Type: Permanent

Sector: Construction / Defence / Complex Engineering


We are supporting a major organisation delivering complex, nationally significant programmes with the appointment of a Procurement Manager - Major Projects.


This role will take responsibility for procurement and supply chain activity across major programmes, with a particular emphasis on construction procurement, NEC contracting, supplier performance and commercial delivery . You will work closely with internal programme teams and external suppliers to ensure requirements are delivered commercially, compliantly and on time.


The Role:

  • Lead procurement and supply chain activity across complex programmes, identifying and appointing appropriate suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Develop and execute tendering and negotiation strategies to secure best value, contractual protection and delivery performance.
  • Manage suppliers throughout the contract lifecycle, including commercial performance, pricing, availability, quality and issue resolution.
  • Identify and manage supply chain risks including capacity, obsolescence, availability and programme delivery constraints.
  • Support wider supply chain planning including demand forecasting, sourcing, purchase orders, scheduling and inventory management.


Key Skills:

  • Demonstrable construction procurement experience , ideally gained across major projects or complex programme environments.
  • Hands-on experience working with NEC3 and/or NEC4 contracts within a construction setting.
  • Strong experience negotiating, placing and managing subcontracts and supplier agreements.
  • Good understanding of contract and subcontract law alongside broader commercial and supply chain principles.
  • Strong supplier and stakeholder management skills with the ability to build credible relationships across operational and technical teams.


Desirable Experience:

  • Background within defence, engineering, infrastructure, nuclear or another highly regulated sector.
  • Experience supporting major capital projects or programmes with complex supply chains.
  • Experience reviewing procurement and supply chain input into bids or commercial proposals.
  • Strong understanding of supplier performance management, including quality, cost, delivery and risk metrics.
  • Experience identifying opportunities to improve supply chain effectiveness, resilience and efficiency.
