Job Description

Overview

As Project Support Officer you will join a brand-new strategic project to map the entire student journey at the University of Newcastle. You will work alongside User Experience (UX) and Service Design professionals to uncover and improve the student experience from first contact through to graduation, with a particular focus on students from equity cohorts.

The Role

You will provide project, research and administrative support for the Living Student Journey Project, a strategic initiative funded through the Commonwealth's Needs-based Funding program. Your work will involve coordinating workshops, supporting research activities, maintaining project documentation, liaising with university stakeholders and capturing insights that shape future student services.

Responsibilities
  • Support the delivery of a high profile university project focused on improving the student experience.
  • Coordinate meetings, workshops and consultation activities.
  • Assist with research, including interviews, surveys and stakeholder engagement.
  • Organise project documentation, schedules and action registers.
  • Prepare reports, presentations and communication materials.
  • Help capture and analyse student and stakeholder feedback.
  • Work closely with experienced UX and Service Design specialists to support journey mapping and service improvement activities.
About you

You are an organised and adaptable professional who enjoys variety and can confidently juggle multiple tasks. You are collaborative, approachable and enjoy working with a diverse range of people.

  • Excellent organisational and administrative skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • The ability to coordinate competing priorities and maintain accurate project documentation.
  • A proactive approach with strong attention to detail.
  • Confidence working with stakeholders and supporting workshops or events.
  • An interest in project work, user experience, service design or business improvement.

Experience supporting projects, research or stakeholder engagement activities will be highly regarded but is not essential.

Full time, fixed term role until mid December 2026 at HEW 5 Higher Education Worker Level, located at Callaghan Campus.

  • Remuneration: $80,972-$93,929 plus superannuation and employment conditions in line with university staff conditions.
