Senior Cloud DBA PostgreSQL & Databricks Lakehouse

Experience: 8-15+ Years

We are seeking a hands-on Senior Cloud DBA with expertise in PostgreSQL, Databricks Lakehouse, and database modernization to support enterprise data transformation initiatives. The ideal candidate will have experience migrating Oracle and SQL Server databases to PostgreSQL, modernizing database code, optimizing performance, and enabling scalable Lakehouse architectures using Databricks.
Key Responsibilities
•    Administer, monitor, and optimize PostgreSQL databases including HA/DR, replication, partitioning, backup, and recovery.
•    Support and optimize Databricks Lakehouse environments, including Delta Lake, Spark, PySpark, SQL Warehouses, and Medallion Architecture (Bronze/Silver/Gold).
•    Lead database migration projects from:
o    Oracle → PostgreSQL
o    SQL Server → PostgreSQL
•    Migrate and optimize:
o    Stored Procedures
o    Functions
o    Triggers
o    Views
o    Database Jobs and Schedulers
•    Convert Oracle PL/SQL and SQL Server T-SQL code to PostgreSQL PL/pgSQL, Databricks SQL, or PySpark.
•    Design and optimize relational, dimensional, and Lakehouse data models.
•    Perform query tuning, indexing, partitioning, and performance optimization for PostgreSQL and Databricks workloads.
•    Build and support ETL/ELT pipelines using Databricks, PySpark, SQL, ADF, Airflow, or similar tools.
•    Implement data governance, security, auditing, reconciliation, and compliance controls.
•    Collaborate with architects, application teams, and data engineers to deliver scalable cloud-native solutions.
•    Mentor junior team members and provide technical leadership during modernization initiatives.
Required Qualifications
•    8+ years of experience in Database Administration and Data Platform Engineering.
•    Strong hands-on experience with:
o    PostgreSQL Administration
o    Databricks Lakehouse Platform
o    Spark, PySpark, and SQL
o    Delta Lake
o    Performance Tuning and Query Optimization
•    Proven experience migrating:
o    Oracle → Delta lake & PostgreSQL
o    SQL Server → Delta lake & PostgreSQL
•    Strong expertise in:
o    Data Modeling
o    PL/SQL, T-SQL, and PL/pgSQL
o    Stored Procedure and Function Migration
o    ETL/ELT Development
o    Database Performance Optimization
Preferred Skills
•    Databricks Lakehouse Architecture and Medallion Framework.
•    Azure Data Factory (ADF), Databricks Workflows, and Apache Airflow.
•    Kafka, Event Streaming, and Real-Time Data Processing.
•    CI/CD, DevOps, Infrastructure as Code.
•    Cloud database platforms such as:
o    Azure Database for PostgreSQL
o    AWS RDS PostgreSQL
o    Google Cloud SQL
Nice to Have
•    PostgreSQL and/or Databricks Certifications.
•    Experience with large-scale enterprise data modernization programs.
•    Consulting or client-facing experience.
•    Experience in Healthcare, Financial Services, or other regulated industries.
