Requirements:
Position Overview: We are seeking a skilled VMware vSAN Administrator/Engineer to support the deployment, configuration, and ongoing management of VMware Broadcom vSAN infrastructure across our manufacturing and corporate sites. This role focuses on hands-on implementation, operational support, and day-to-day infrastructure management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the design and deployment of VMware Broadcom vSAN solutions across multiple sites
- Perform site readiness assessments covering rack space, power, cooling, network connectivity, and cabling requirements
- Support Lenovo vSAN Ready Node deployment, including hardware receipt, racking, stacking, cabling, labeling, and inventory validation
- Install, configure, and maintain Lenovo server BIOS, firmware, drivers, ESXi hosts, vCenter, and vSAN clusters
- Configure vSAN storage, VMkernel networking, vMotion, distributed switches, VLANs, and MTU settings
- Collaborate with network and security teams to implement DNS, NTP, firewall, certificate, and access control requirements
- Support VM migration activities from legacy Nutanix and VMware environments, including dependency mapping and validation
- Execute VM migration and application cutover activities under architect guidance
- Perform health checks, performance monitoring, failover testing, and storage policy validation
- Provide Level 2/3 operational support, troubleshooting, and escalation management
- Assist in developing documentation, build guides, SOPs, and migration runbooks
- Provide knowledge transfer and operational support to operations teams
Required Experience & Qualifications:
- 5+ years of enterprise infrastructure and virtualization experience
- 3+ years of hands-on experience with VMware vSphere, vCenter, and vSAN environments
- Solid expertise with Lenovo server platforms and vSAN Ready Node deployments
- Strong knowledge of storage architecture, performance tuning, and data protection
- Proficiency in network configuration (VLANs, distributed switches, VMkernel networking)
- Experience with Nutanix or legacy virtualization platforms
- Relevant certifications: VMware Certified Professional (VCP) or equivalent required
Preferred: VMware Certified Associate (VCA) or higher-level VMware certification
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry up to 60 pounds regularly
- Capable of working in data centre environments with varying temperature and noise levels
- Comfortable with climbing ladders and working at heights for equipment installation and maintenance
- Ability to stand, walk, and move about the workplace for extended periods
- Willingness to travel to manufacturing and corporate sites as needed (estimated 20-30% travel)
- Willingness to perform on-call support and emergency response duties as needed
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code concepts and tools
- Knowledge of VMware NSX networking
- Familiarity with backup and disaster recovery solutions
- Experience with monitoring and performance analysis tools
- Strong communication and documentation skills
