Job description

Job Description:
Role Overview:

  • Business Analyst - Global Markets / Middle Office Operations
  • Seeking a senior, highly analytical Business Analyst with deep financial services, Global Markets, trading, and middle-office business experience to support initiatives within Corporate & Investment Banking (CIB).
  • This is a business-facing, operations-focused Business Analyst role, not a technology BA, Project Manager, or traditional Agile/UAT delivery position. The successful candidate should understand the broader business and operational lifecycle surrounding trading activity and be comfortable operating in the middle of the business where trades, operations, compliance, and other business functions intersect.
  • The team needs someone who understands the overall business and operational process, rather than someone whose experience has been limited to individual pieces of technology delivery.
  • Candidates should be able to engage senior business stakeholders, analyze complex operational problems, determine the true business impact, and translate those needs into clear requirements and solutions.
  • Strong communication, curiosity, critical thinking, and the ability to dig beneath surface-level issues are essential.
  • Prior client experience is not required and should not be prioritized over relevant domain experience.
  • The focus should be on the candidate's depth of financial services, Global Markets/trading, middle-office, and business operations experience.
Target Profile:
  • 10 plus years of relevant financial services experience is expected, consistent with the senior/VP-level scope of the role.
  • Strong background as a business/operations-focused Business Analyst, rather than a technical BA or Project Manager.
  • Significant hands-on experience within middle-office environments, Global Markets, trading operations, hedge fund-related businesses, and/or similar capital-markets environments.
  • Strong understanding of the business and operational activity surrounding the trading lifecycle.
  • Experience operating at the intersection of business, trading, operations, and compliance is highly desirable.
  • Candidates should understand the overall business operation, rather than having visibility into only individual technology components or isolated pieces of the business.
  • Ability to independently analyze complex problems and go beyond surface-level requirements to understand the underlying business need.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with business stakeholders.
  • Candidates should demonstrate curiosity, initiative, willingness to learn, and the ability to communicate their experience effectively during the interview process.
  • Client experience is not required. Candidates should not be screened in or out based primarily on prior client experience.
  • Candidates with strong, relevant financial services and markets experience from other organizations should receive full consideration.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Partner directly with Global Markets, trading, operations, compliance, and other business stakeholders to understand business needs and operational challenges.
  • Analyze end-to-end business and middle-office processes, identifying risks, gaps, dependencies, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Gather, document, challenge, and refine detailed business and functional requirements.
  • Understand how trades and related business activity flow through the organization and how different business and operational functions interact.
  • Translate complex business and operational needs into clear, actionable requirements.
  • Engage stakeholders to move beyond surface-level requests and identify the underlying business problem.
  • Evaluate impacts across business functions and operational processes.
  • Support initiatives affecting CIB and frontline business organizations.
  • Deliver high-quality analysis and documentation within established timelines and SLAs.
  • Communicate effectively across multiple stakeholder groups in a highly collaborative and communication-heavy environment.
Required Qualifications:
  • 10 plus years of relevant financial services experience.
  • Significant Business Analyst experience in a business-facing or operational capacity.
  • Demonstrated Global Markets, trading, and/or middle-office experience.
  • Strong knowledge of financial markets and banking operations.
  • Experience working directly with business and operational stakeholders.
  • Ability to understand the broader end-to-end business process, rather than focusing solely on technology requirements or an isolated portion of the process.
  • Experience analyzing complex business processes and translating findings into detailed requirements.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage stakeholder relationships.
  • Strong analytical, critical-thinking, and problem-solving capabilities.
Preferred Experience:
  • Operations and/or compliance-oriented Business Analyst background.
  • Experience within middle-office trading environments.
  • Hedge fund-related experience.
  • Global Markets or broader capital-markets experience.
  • Experience operating at the intersection of trading, operations, compliance, and business functions.
  • Experience within CIB or another complex institutional banking environment.
  • Ability and interest in potentially converting to a full-time employee, should an opportunity become available.
  • Client-specific experience is not necessary. Relevant business, markets, trading, and middle-office experience is more important than prior experience within client.
Regulatory Experience:
  • Candidates may have regulatory or compliance experience, but it should complement their broader business, markets, trading, and middle-office background rather than define their overall experience.
  • Candidates whose backgrounds are concentrated primarily on downstream regulatory reporting activities, such as FR Y-14 or CCAR, without meaningful front-half trading/business and middle-office exposure, are not the target profile.
  • The primary need is someone who understands the business and operational environment surrounding market and trading activity and has experience operating closer to the business.
Profiles That Are Not a Fit:
  • Please avoid submitting candidates whose experience is primarily or exclusively focused on:
  • Technical Business Analysis
  • Technology or IT delivery
  • Project Management
  • Agile/Scrum delivery
  • UAT/testing-focused BA work
  • Technical implementations with limited direct business or operational exposure
  • AML without the required broader Global Markets, trading, or middle-office experience
  • Regulatory reporting without meaningful business-side markets/trading exposure
  • FR Y-14/CCAR-focused work that is predominantly downstream of trading activity
  • Candidates who have only worked on individual technology components and lack exposure to the broader business operation
  • Candidates with less than approximately 10 years of relevant financial services experience
  • Candidates with limited or no meaningful Global Markets, trading, or middle-office experience
  • Agile or UAT experience appearing on a resume does not automatically disqualify a candidate. The concern is candidates whose careers are fundamentally centered on Agile delivery, testing/UAT, or technical implementation rather than broader business operations and markets.
Client Experience:
  • Prior client experience is not a requirement and should not be treated as a major differentiator when evaluating candidates.
  • The primary consideration should be whether the candidate has the right business-domain experience: financial services, Global Markets/trading, middle-office operations, and meaningful interaction with the business.
  • A candidate with strong relevant experience outside client should not be considered less qualified simply because they have not previously worked at client.
  • The team is looking for candidates who possess the appropriate domain foundation while also demonstrating strong communication skills, intellectual curiosity, initiative, and a genuine willingness to learn.
Resume Submission Expectations:
  • Please submit the candidate's most authentic and organic resume.
  • Resumes should accurately represent the work the candidate actually performed and should not be artificially rewritten, tailored, or enhanced simply to mirror terminology from this job description.
  • Relevant markets, trading, middle-office, operations, and business-facing experience should be based on work the candidate genuinely performed and can discuss confidently and in depth during an interview.
  • Because communication is a significant component of this position, suppliers should submit candidates they are confident can clearly articulate their experience, business knowledge, and thought process during the interview process, rather than relying solely on keywords appearing on the resume.
Bottom Line:
  • We are looking for a senior, business-facing Business Analyst who sits close to the actual business and understands how Global Markets, trading, middle-office operations, compliance, and related business functions work together.
  • The ideal candidate is not a technology BA, Project Manager, Agile/UAT specialist, or downstream regulatory-reporting specialist.
  • The strongest candidates will combine deep financial-services domain knowledge with hands-on markets/middle-office experience, excellent communication skills, intellectual curiosity, and the ability to understand the whole business problem rather than only one technical piece of it.
  • Do not limit or prioritize the candidate pool based on previous client experience. Relevant Global Markets, trading, middle-office, and business operations experience is significantly more important. Candidates who bring the right domain knowledge, communicate effectively, demonstrate curiosity, and show a strong willingness to learn should be considered regardless of whether they have previously worked at client.
In this contingent resource assignment, candidate may:
  • Consult as an expert to develop or influence initiatives and resources for highly complex business and technical needs across Business Execution.
