About the teamOur Central Sterile Supply Department (CSSD) / Sterile Processing Services (SPS) provides essential reprocessing services to the hospital's operating theatres, Day Procedure Centre and clinical departments, ensuring reusable medical devices are safely cleaned, disinfected, sterilised and supplied in accordance with Australian Standards and best practice.
About the roleAs a Grade 4 Instrument Technician, you will play a senior technical role within CSSD, supporting the day-to-day operation of the department while ensuring the safe and compliant reprocessing of reusable medical devices. Working alongside the leadership team, you will provide technical guidance, support quality improvement initiatives and help maintain the highest standards of patient safety.
ResponsibilitiesA regular day will see you:
- Provide technical support and guidance to Instrument Technicians.
- Ensure compliance with AS/NZS 5369 and infection prevention standards.
- Reprocess complex reusable medical devices and surgical instrumentation.
- Assist with staff training, competency development and continuous quality improvement.
You are an experienced Instrument Technician with excellent technical knowledge, strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality and patient safety. You enjoy supporting colleagues, sharing your knowledge and contributing to a positive team culture.
You'll bring with you- Minimum five (5) years' recent experience as an Instrument Technician within an acute hospital CSSD/Sterile Processing Department (mandatory).
- Demonstrated knowledge of AS/NZS 5369 and contemporary reprocessing standards.
- Experience reprocessing complex surgical instrumentation and reusable medical devices.
- Experience using instrument tracking systems.
